Being a fanboy myself, who spent a lot of money collecting every SW book in the 90s/00s, who read the story of Han and Leia's twins, of Luke's son Ben....to see Disney go in a completely diffferent direction breaks my heart. I can understand maybe tweaking the story a bit, not doing exactly what happened in the expanded universe novels, but to completely shut down the Skywalker story....as Vader said in ROTS...."NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

i agree with alot of what has been said .... i was kinda left with the feeling that ... wow ... i got so UP for this movie and they worked on it for so long ... and this is what they came up with ???
i think if Luke as a charactor was going to go away to a planet and be like that .... i think they would have thought more into it ... and why he was there .... instead of just being a hermit ... maybe make it that he was trying to come up with a way to defeat snoke ....
but in the end the snoke demise is kinda silly ... but a surprise and i think that is why we go to movies .... now Kylo is in charge etc ...
They returned to the Yoda puppet look because when they made him CGI in the prequels, people complained. It seems that no matter what they do with Star Wars, people will always complain. I thought Snoke was going to be the big villain of this trilogy and even though I was quite looking forward to finding out more about him, it always seemed like he was too similar to Palpatine. When they killed him off I was genuinely shocked. In a good way. The Force Awakens was criticised for being too similar to the original and now The Last Jedi is being criticised for shaking things up. Like I said, people will always complain. Things are set up nicely now though for Episode 9, I think. Rey's parentage is still a topic for debate and I have a feeling that she'll end up being related to Obi Wan, which could plant the seed for his spin off. Maybe she's his granddaughter or something. Maybe even give Ewan McGregor a little force ghost cameo. Even if her parents were nobodies, her grandparents might be related to the overall story. I actually hope that Kylo was telling the truth though and she's completely separate from the lineage of the Skywalkers, Kenobi's etc. Finn and Rose had some nice scenes together which made me actually care about his character. Rey is either kylos sister or daughter .. last jedi mirrors the ot but they are waiting for the reveal in 9 ... kylo is much older than he behaves ... han and leia are old .. snoke has an emperor size role .. they flipped the order of some of the reveals which is why everyone thinks they are shaking it up but its as much of a remake as force awakens was .. i think rey is kylos daughter or maybe sister .. it makes a lot more sense that way | |

I heard R2D2 was drunk half the time on the set plus was acting like a diva. Because of that they cut his part. Also there are some allegations of sexual misconduct by R2D2 on the set. |

I think it's interesting that many review not the movie for itself but rather based on what they think the characters should/would do. Or at least it's a big part of what people think of it. Hey loudmouth, shut the fuck up, right? |

Regardless of her being Asian the character of Rose felt more like a nerdy fangirl who got a part in the movie. I also saw them pushing to have more females pilots. But yes would love to have seen the Cloud fleet. Would be cool if Finn turned out to be Lando's son.

Anyways! [edit:was not working on mobile device] Saw the film a second time, and the "humorous" bits weren't as offensive this time around. They weren't on the level of Jar Jar stepping in shit...but they were still pretty bad and uncharacteristic...I still like the iron bit though. It's amazing that people don't "get it" Saw it in 3-D *(only tickets available without leaving super late) and contrary to what a previous poster said.. the 3-D was pretty commendable. It wasn't cheesy or over the top...but it kinda was only usefull in the space scenes and the large forefront battles. However, back to the story... I didn't like the pandering....and if you'd read my previous post.. I nodded off on the first watching for the Rey/Cave B.S. Watching those 3 minutes now... I'm shocked at how ridiculously bad the "parentage" issue is handled... it's dangled around like a stupid joke. She ultimately goes into the cave and has her confrontation with the dark side and for nothing. Totally useless scene...as well as the other bit with Bb-8 shooting coinage... really stupid. having seen it twice, I realized the kid at the end was the same one that Finn and Required Asian gal confronted in the stalls. That explained my confusion after the first viewing...(I'd nodded off and missed it) One more inconsistency: and it's crucial... the salt ground is blasted to f*** initially...but once the two "jedi" and "ren" duke it out...it's back to being white. I hadn't noticed that. It's a cheap cheat to set up the force projection....but the field was bombarded...it was not white. Miraculously changes white. I've now come to the side where it's totally unnecessary that Luke "faded" but it was set up with a line from Kylo in the first quarter... Kylo to Rey: "You're not doing this, it'd destroy you" (projecting herself into his world) Noticed those lame nuances a bit more this time. Same for Leia to Luke: "I know what you're going to say... I changed my hair" [double implication, Luke's force projection is cleaner) ANYWAYS... THe gal I saw it with wasn't impressed and says she's done with STAR WARS... she used to get excited about them...could be life...or could be the film. In the end... I really didn't think it was worth watching again... it's not a grower. THe first impression was the best impression for me. ALSO, under my first viewing... I thought the commander conversation was a jab at "BIGGUS DICKUS" from THE LIFE OF BRIAN... "Seven Surly Sadducees" etc... but this time, it didn't seem like his words were as comical. I REALLY wanted the Python team to get in there when the THIRD instance of REy's parentage was thrown around. During that battle's conclusion.. People protest way too much. Just like when Empire Strikes Back came out. There was a huge bitchfest with that too. Besides Jar Jar Brinks is The Last Jedi. As for plot holes-This is Star Wars not Shakespeare. I don't think one Star Wars film was written with dialogue that would rate up there with Shakespeare; let alone story lines. Every one acts as if Star Wars is this well written piece of work and thus, it has become more about people's expectations and not critical thinking. The stories are always loosely fitted. Complaining about it now because you don't like the direction it is going is funny to me. I think I would consider the chatter more interesting if they would just be honest and say they don't like the choices of the director/producer/writer than an in depth "critical" review. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment |

Plot holes are part of this dynasty because this is a space soap opera not Shakespeare. Complaining about plot holes is funny, since it is part of the Star Wars make up. I didn't hear it in the episodes of THE NAKED CITY (*one in which it's was purported to ) either. What i intend to state and MEASURE is this: Could you walk into THIS film without having seen any others, and felt that the plot carried you along? (*or was it just v generational curiosity from a better series? ) 2. Does the ACTION necessitate classification as an action adventure film? I don't think it does. It has no ties to anything. And nobody exudes any b heart. Even Skywalker....i read that he approached this as an art house film, BUT knowing the background of this character all these movements are trash. His acting is way on par. The film isn't. It's a film deliberately destroying convention with massive plot holes. It's an exercise in comerciality. I hope Lucas can sue them for something. The more i sleep on it adds think on it, the more I'm offended that generations of kowtowing idiots will take their kids to this bullshit... I think my hate, though. ...rests upon people.
