It is still canon, as is the series & Rebels, but I hear you.
I consider it a part of the series more than one of the movies myself.
Yeah but don't get me wrong, there are things I do like about Phathom Menace, like Darth Maul and Liam Nesson and Ewan McGregor were good in their roles.
I completely agree, especially concerning Darth Maul & Ewan McGregor!

I don't think even Luke or Vader could have pulled off that flying through space BS that Leia did. That was just ridiculous. In my opinion, of course.
She shot her Force wad with that one. She did wind up in a coma.
As for AOTC, I won't mention the bad, we all know what was wrong with that movie, LOL. I will say what I liked:
I like the battle between Obi-Wan & Jango on Kamino. After the coolness of Boba being wasted in the OT, it was an awesome thing to see. On that same note, Jango was badass on Geonosis as well, right up till he met the baddest MF Jedi, Mace Windu, and had a worthy death instead of going out like a bitch like Boba did.
I like the lightsaber battle between Yoda & Dooku. I like it even better than the one with the Emperor in ROTS. It was the first time we saw Yoda in battle and that scene still thrills me.
I like Anakin losing it and taking out the Tusken Raiders. The only thing that I don't like about that scene is that it's far too short and didn't show enough.
I get more enjoyment from those few scenes than anything in ROTS, TLJ or TPM.
All good scenes, and for my the sum of the parts of II were greater than the whole.

If nothing else, the bible teaches us that canon that is inconsistent with itself and has many contradictions is no barrier to mass and continuing appeal. Most don’t look at it too closely and those that do will either find ways to rationalise the faults away or they will walk away. Neeson, McGregor and Pernilla August (Shmi Skywalker) really did try to make it a respectable movie on the merits.
The climactic saber duel remains the best of the entire saga. And like Boba Fett before him, Darth Maul was wasted.

AOTC....
Corusant in all its glory.
Zam Wessel & the speeder chase.
The story behind the clones.
Obi/Fett kamino showdown.
Tusken Raiders.
Mace Windu in action.
Yoda in genral mode
Only time we see a mass of Jedi in full battle
Yoda with a lightsaber.
Birth of the Empire.
And Obi's line to Anakin...'why do I get the feeling you're going to be the death of me?'
Classic. . |

More rub about The Last Jedi....
1. Didn't the bridge of The Raddus (the Resistance command ship), get blown up sending Leia and Akbar into space....if so....how did Holdo stand in the same room to drive it into Snokes ship?
2. When Luke's human body dissapears to become one with the force, leaving only his cloak....what happened to his metal arm???? . |

And had a far more interesting story arc in the great Clone Wars TV series, I know.
Though his loss was a necessary plot point for the prequels, I wish we'd seen more of what he could do.

I was annoyed when he “died”. Such a great new Darth and I thought his character would develop. At least Snoke made it to the 2nd film. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it! |

I'm just not buying the Leia flying in space, but as I said, I wouldn't buy it from the strongest of Jedis, much less an untrained force adept.
As for AOTC parts greater than the whole... I can't really disagree with that. It's how I feel about all the prequels and will likely eventually feel about The Last Jedi. Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors. |

Yes. And in the now abandonded Expanded Universe, Boba Fett survived the Sarlaac Pit and went on to have many adventures in which he was way more badass than in the movies.

Yes it was.
However, the problems with that "plot" do not stem from whether or not the First Order had that kind of tracking technology, but rather, the plodding clunkiness of the execution. It simply was not at all suspenseful or engaging.
It was also rather silly that Finn & Rose could fly in and on their "mission" while it was going on, as could Chewie in the Falcon when he dropped off Rey.

The middle gif it looks like Obi-wan has a clean shot and instead decides to spin around. This is an exciting duel overall and the soundtrack is great, but 2 on 1 combat requires much suspension of disbelief no wonder how well it's pulled off.
