Concussion

I hit my head on a waterpipe under a house about a week ago. I had a headache for three days and then i felt fine. I went running yesterday and the headache came back(possible from the jarring motion of running). Do you think this is a concussion? I hate going to doctors, but i feel i might have to. sad

Sweetie! Go to the doctor's as soon as you can get in. My ex-boyfriend was hit from behind while driving his work truck and had terrible headaches. Because he hated the hospital, he ended up in there for two days a week later (his weekend - shot) to get CAT scans and medication because of fluid buildup in his brain. He could have suffered brain damage, all because of a little accident and being stubborn. It's not an area to mess with! hug I hope everything gets better, C.

EDIT: He had a moderate concussion, I am not saying it's at all what you have.

I hit my head and broke my zygomatic arch in 3 places and had reconstructive surgery. Long story short, Insatiable is right. They can determine any damage from some simple tests like are your pupils the same size. They can see bleeding through your pupil. They will check your balance and coordination. And of course a CAT or MRI.

A concusion is a "jarring" of the fluid in the brain. It can cause your neurotransmitters to fire "off". That is what they call "Post Concusive Syndrome". It can last a week or up to a year. Certain things will just be "off" until the brain heals itself. It took me 2 years. I had HORRIBLE panic attacks, tenitis, and vertigo.

I healed back to 100%. I don't think your situation is as bad, but you should make absolute sure. Take it easy for a while. Even a slight head injury is nothing to mess with.

All my love friend smile

Thanks you all for the advice. I feel better today, so i will lay low(i hate doctors). But if it acts up at all i will take your advice insatiable and go to the doctor. I wish i didn't hate them so. It's not the procedures, it's just waiting in that cold smelly hospital that gets me.

Mr. I hope you are o.k., a simple visit to the doctor can ease the mind... especially if the pain is still present. The head/brain area is not a area to ignore. rose

When I was younger I went to summer camp... we were doing back handsprings on concrete. I was this skinny little runt wink with weak wrists and as I did one... they gave... and I landed straight on my head on the flipped side dead I didn't mention seeing black shhh and a week later I finally could not take the constant headaches, so my aunt took me to the doctor and there I confessed to my incident. boxed I did have a concussion and I still do... that explains everything. nuts (Truth is finally out) lol wink

Go to the doctor, for peace of mind. rose

When we're talking about brain damage, you don't want to wait until you have symptoms! Some (many) kinds of brain damage aren't reversible. Go the doctor.

Ouch! A HOLE in your chin?!

I've run into my share of parked cars too... I'm always bumping into something for some reason. I can't tell you how many times I've hit the corner of the wall between the dining room and living room here, and I've only lived here a month. It was funny, about a week or so ago, I was walking out of the kitchen, to pass through to go to the laundry room, and my son says, "Watch out for the wall, mamma!"

Having had several concussions in my football days I can confidently say that you have the after effects of a concussion.

Concussion is caused by your brain being "shaken" within your scull. Even though you felt better you experienced further headaches after your run because of the pounding effect of running.

You should be ok with further rest and the only way to know for sure is to go for another run in a few days after you have rested.

If problems persist, see a doctor. biggrin
