Testament - 1983 film about a-bombs being dropped on the US, nuclear war and so on - centers on a woman trying to survive with her kids.
Absolutely horrifying and incredibly sad, but I think everyone should see it. Definitely gives you perspective, esp. these days... I mean, like, where is the sun?

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas i'm sure some of u have seen it, but it's a damn classic La Pianiste French movie about repressed sexuality, don't think anyone saw that one. There's some funny shit in that movie. Rose McGowan's lines are hilarious & Jonathan Schaech is just gorgeous. It's total camp, I love it "Could you please pull your head out of your rectal region?!"

"drugstore cowboy"
"requiem for a dream" "snuff" (just kidding this is actually a third rate brazilian slasher film that was so crappy it was unreleasable in its original form, title "slaughter". However it did start the long standing debate on whether snuff films actually exist, mainly because of sensationalist cheap publicity and an incredibly gruesome tacked on ending.)

I wouldn't say the second one is shit, its had a lower budget, no discipline, a thousand times more pulp, but is more intense colorful and funny/perverse than the more mannered first.

The film "Cube"
Six people placed inside an enormous well...Cube...with a twist...it is booby-trapped with killer mechanisms...all have a specific talent...but the most genuine...gets out!! Had to get that dvd...it's an intellectual thriller...I guess that speaks for the folks that have supported it...or society... The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them. -- Mark Twain.

'A Thousand Acres' is a good film, underrated, and doesn't get much talk.
It also starred one of my very favorite actresses, Michelle Pfeiffer. [This message was edited Thu Apr 17 16:42:45 PDT 2003 by Starmist7]
