Does anybody on the ORG celebrate FESTIVUS?

I've been debating it for years...and though I don't have a household that would participate. And don't feel much like throwing down a 68 year old parent... I've debated doing something else... anything else than this sheep led (no religious joke intended) mass market agreement that we should all "celebrate the HOLYDAY season"

Appreciations of the season? SURE

Appreciations of making it (almost) through a full year? SURE


Masked crazed previous traditions from self imposed religious autocracies, hiding hedonistic pagan celebrations while replacing them with a phony approximation for the season of JC's birth? NOPE.

Fiscal year spending to get rid of stock and overstock to hem the lining of businesses? Ehh... it IS healthy in an economy, but it's still crass marketed, indoctrinated bullshit.


I'm not off topic.. those would be my reasons for not wanting to participate in the usual "Christmas crap". Thankfulness and thoughtfulness are a year round thing. I understand we can all sometimes get time off to visit loved ones etc at the end of the year... but don't people realized they've been indoctrinated?

Any thoughts?

I don't go into full on Festivus mode but I do like to air my grievances with loved ones. I don't take part on the feats of strength though. I'm 5"1' and quite weakly built so that wouldn't end well for me. I will probably replace my traditional Christmas tree with a pole this year though. A pole requires no decoration.

Nope....But I used to eat the Ben & Jerry's "Festivus" flavored ice cream every holiday season...Wish they would bring it back.

Cool. What was in it? I'm not sure i read that bit on Wikipedia....i looked after posting this op out of curiosity.
