Thank you all for the wonderfully nice comments on the last poem. It seems that the only time that I write is when I am in a depressed or confused mood. As of late I have gotten the double whammy......so once again I ask for your input/comments/reactions...

I never thought I would see that look on your face
The one that I saw last night
That wasn’t the window breaking
But the love in my heart, deep inside

The sound was deafening
The ripple through the tide
That wasn’t a tear you saw slide down my face
That was just my foolish pride

I don’t know what hurt the most
Revealing part of my soul to you
Or seeing the reaction in your eyes
Is this friendship, only worth $4.99

If I had known your reaction
I would have kept my feelings deep inside
Left them to fill the hollow
That was placed in my heart last night

Anger, hurt, love, frustration, jealousy
All the things I feel inside
Should I keep these from you?
Are they mine alone to hide?

I thought that friendship
Meant no secrets, no lies
But I guess I should have kept these emotions from you
Then there wouldn’t have been that silly fight.

I don’t blame you for hating me
It is only your right.
But don’t hate me for a love
That I can no longer hide

Honesty, truth, frankness
Is all that I ever offered you
Aside from the love,
That I kept hidden away inside

I knew this would be your reaction
Maybe that’s why I revealed
The true feelings I feel for you
No longer do I need this shield

Maybe one day you will wake up
Realizing all that you left behind
Maybe then you will thank me
Wishing you hadn’t pushed me to the side

I know that is your only defense
I have seen it time after time
Whenever someone gets too close
You must push them aside

It would be the end of all ends
If you ever allowed someone to step inside
You would no longer have
That foolish fucking pride

You can’t blame everything on your past
You are way beyond that now
No longer can you blame mommy & daddy
For the feelings you should no longer hide

I hope that one day you learn to deal with your emotions
You cannot always keep others out
One day you will find
Someone slid past you; they are in that heart you kept so tight

I don’t want to be the love of your life
I only want to be your friend
But the actions that I have seen of late
Have made me think that may be too much to ask

I understand that you are young
And mistakes are there to be made
But you must make the decisions
Which ones to keep, which ones to throw away

So if it is time that you want
Some space to sit and think
Just let me know
Let me know what it will take

I don’t want to throw this friendship away
On some silly mistake
It happened three months ago
Sometimes we just got to let that anger fade

The decision is yours to make
Do you want me in your life?
Or is it time to just fade
Just fade away

Forever I will not wait
For time is on your side
I can live happily with the memory
Of the friendship I cherished, the love I have inside
