the road good deed circle is complete 2 years ago when it was raining I was travelling through a high canyon road. I hit a flood/puddle and my car skidded in to the next lane and ended up on the right side of the road but up the side of the mountain. Thank god I didnt hit any oncoming traffic. Im stuck there in a daze. I get out and cars go by and by...and finally an old man drives by and stops and parksback up the road. He walks over asking if Im ok and offers to help me push my car out the entrappement mud etc. His wife is folloiwng and he starts yelling at her to get back in the car and she yells back that she wants to help, they bicker and Im thinking oh brother lol. Well we get the car out and I offer him 20 bucks for helping and he says no, keep it. He says just be sure to help the next person I see on the road who needs help.
In the years since that I have seen some people on the freeway but its always too late for me to stop and go back due to traffic. Today it was raining heavily and I had to go through that same canyon road. Not more then ten feet from where I ended up on the mountain was somene else..two people and their truck stuck up there. I kept going down the slick road and I was already late for a meeting and it kept bothering me until finally a quarter mile away I said funk it, found an opening and went back up the road. I went back and asked if they were alright. The two guys didnt crash there but he said something like he had two tanks and one was out of gas which he wasn't expecting (they spoke a different language). I guess they ran out and decided to push it on the barely there side of the mountain before the tank was fully empty. I offered help and they said they'd take a ride to their house so I took them back and they said they could handle it from there, and said thanks. Im glad I went back and nothing had happened that we/I couldn't fix, but it also felt good to finally do something back from when someone helped me out in almost the same boat. The raod good deed circle is complete. "Climb in my fur." | |
