I didn't realize that. I've been wondering why so many planets look so Earth like, but I couldn't remember what they looked like way back when so I thought they must have always looked like that.

I'm glad I have the original DVD Season releases. I prefer the original series in the original form.

Question for those that prefer the HD Remasters...

How come Star Wars fans prefer the original Theatrical Versions over the Special Editions but so many Star Trek fans prefer the Remaster Versions over the original Broadcast Versions?

I'm a fan of BOTH and prefer the original with BOTH.

Oh yeah. Got that too. I've got every Star Trek, movie & TV, on DVD and/or Blu-ray. If I didn't, I might be willing to pay for CBS All Access. But since I already have everything else and will be buying Discovery when it comes out, CBS All Access isn't getting my money.

IDW Comics did an excellent adaption of Harlan Ellison's original script for City On The Edge Of Forever. Highly recommended!

Oh but no I haven't abandoned Star Trek by a long shot. I'm currently reanalyzing DS9 it trips me how deep they get in their storylines. But at this moment I have this.

Patrick Stewart would reprise Captain Picard, not Professor X

At first, Stewart dismissed the idea of returning as the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" captain.

"Oh, lord. I cannot think of another instance in which that might happen," he told Variety. "My feeling is I hung up the space suit and left all that behind a long time ago."

But then...

"Maybe if someone came up with a brilliant idea, I'd do it," Stewart admitted. "One thing that might interest me would be to bring all the existing casts of Star Trek from the last 50 years together for one big story."

Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Star Trek’ Will Be R-Rated: ‘The Revenant’s Mark L. Smith Frontrunner Scribe

EXCLUSIVE: After Deadline this week revealed that Quentin Tarantino pitched aStar Trek film to JJ Abrams and Paramount, the whole thing is moving at warp speed. Tarantino met for hours in a writers room with Mark L. Smith, Lindsey Beer, and Drew Pearce. They kicked around ideas and one of them will get the job. I’m hearing the frontrunner is Smith, who wrote The Revenant. The film will most certainly go where no Star Trek has gone before: Tarantino has required it to be R rated, and Paramount and Abrams agreed to that condition. Most mega budget tent poles restrict the film to a PG-13 rating in an effort to maximize the audience. That was the reason that Guillermo Del Toro’s $150 million At The Mountains of Madnessdidn’t go forward at Universal, even though Tom Cruise was ready to star. The exception to this rule was Fox’s Deadpool, but that film started out with modest ambitions before it caught on and became the biggest R rated film ever.

I'm really torn about this. Tarantino is my all-time favorite director and I'm a fantatic about Star Trek, but, as I said about Discovery and it's use of the word "fuck", Star Trek should always be family friendly. Quentin should prove he's capable of doing PG-13, we don't need an R-rated Star Trek.

Patrick Stewart would do more Star Trek to work with Tarantino:

"People are always saying to me, "Will you be Jean-Luc Picard again?'"And I cannot think that would be possible, but there are ways in which something like that might come about. But one of my dreams is to work with Tarantino. I admire his work so much and to be in a Tarantino film would give me so much satisfaction. So, if he is going to direct something to do with Star Trek and there was the possibility of dear old Jean-Luc showing up again and doing that for Mr. Tarantino, I would embrace it."
