Just waiting for morningsong to watch it. But yes excellent series from start to finish. I wonder if they already knew how they wanted to end the series from day one.

Ok we all seen it now. Where to start, Uhura punching that lady in the face . Smith turning also caught me off guard. Saucer separation . Everything worked so well and the show came full circle. One complaint, would love to have Erin Grey back as the admiral. Sad they killed off Dr. McKenna but it makes sense story wise. They wanted to show what happened to her and why Spock left for Vulcan. The ending defiantly wrapped things up and bridge the motion picture to next generation. Kirk giving his approval of having ship counselors on board, to the new uniforms and ships, and having just one symbol to represent starfleet. Wonder how the original cast feels about the show.

The saucer separation & the ending dovetailing into The Motion Picture were my favorite elements. I like the end credits sequence and the episodes score, too (it's the little touches that make me smile). Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Which part did you laugh? I know you cried when Doctor McKeena died, maybe choke up a little bit when Kirk took his last walk on the bridge???

I'm something like six episodes in, but Discovery has already jumped the shark for me. Very disappointed. Okay, the Microsoft HoloLens version of the game from Star Trek: TNG, which was posted to Reddit by user litewo, isn’t exactly like the fictional version, but it is frighteningly, frighteningly close. It was created by Robert Burke, who graduated from MIT with a focus on “the design of a scalable, extensible architecture for the brains of synthetic creatures,” and it utilizes a Pip galvanic biosensor to measure players’ levels of relaxation. It does this by measuring the electrical resistance of the skin, or basically how sweaty one is, to determine stress levels. The lower your levels of stress, the more likely a disk is to go into a wiggly cone. Burke notes in his cursory walkthrough of the making of the HoloLens version of the game that “Star Trek has a history of envisioning technologies that eventually become real. Often faster and more addictive than anyone expects!”

I love and still watch the original Star Trek (with Shatner and Nimoy), which is called Enterprise over here, and I often ask myself why they don´t simply remake the whole show, every single episode. Because as much as I like the original series and its stories, I think in some episodes it is very obvious that they didn´t exactly have the biggest budget. So, how would YOU as a hardcore fan feel about that idea? I mean, those old stories are still great and deserve to be remade...with a bigger budget some of them would look fantastic in this day and age. I also watch Star Trek next generation (with Picard and Riker ) every now and then but it just doesn´t really grab me, and neither do Deep Space Nine or Voyager. Hell no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just watch Star Trek Continues. Honestly I wish Discovery took place where season 4 of the original series would have started. Also they did some dvd where they updated the graphics.

Wow, you guys are so vehemently against remaking the old show. I´m very surprised. But thanks for the replies and the info on updated graphics. I just like the old episodes so much that I thought it´d be great to watch them again with what today´s new technology has to offer because some of the props they used look really , really cheap but I understand why you are both so strict and loyal when it comes to remakes. You know what? You both put me in the mood to watch at least three or four oldschool Star Trek episodes tonight. I really love that old show, cheesy props and all.
