Lost


The windshield wipers erase all of u
For it is only when the rain comes that I get 2 c
That which has held my heart in captivity for so long
For I see though you like a pane of glass
Only visible when the rain comes

Once upon a time it was only my tears that brought u back around
But no longer do I depend upon them 2 see you
The breeze brings your cologne back 2 my mind
The memory brings you back into my arms
I can taste you, feel you

But now I just miss you
You told me that I was the reason you woke in the morning
And the only thing that could bring dreams to you at night
Somehow that was all lost
In some careless fight

Egos bruised
Knowing that is the only thing that can stand between us
We create our own misery
Curse of intelligence or gift?
The answers lye in the questions

So now I lye here
Wondering what it would take to get you back in my arms
I offer up anything that you want
Cause without you I know that I am but half a man
And half a man can never be good enough

You pushed me away
Saying that my love was too much of a burden to bear
The cross of affection
Unwilling to stand
So you hurt me instead

Once again the wipers float across the windshield
All sign of you gone again
I will wait for another raindrop to land upon my window
Just for another glimpse of you
Why can’t you be here in this car with me?

Some say that I come on too strong
My personality is overwhelming
It was so easy in the beginning
Nothing hidden
Nothing lost

Now it is like we don’t even know one another
Two strangers passing in the night
Love no longer lives here
Just a memory
Of the fight that night

You refuse to tell me what is on your mind
You show me nothing but indifference and contempt
Was all trust lost in me
When I took friendship on another trip?
Regret nothing, was my motto

Now I regret loosing you
Your respect is no longer there for me
Contempt has taken its place
Knowing not how to fix the situation
We continue to play these childish games

Content with nothing more than friendship
That is how I should have kept it
But the urge overtook me
Weakness reared its ugly head
How I lost so much for so little, a moment of joy, maybe happiness

In a life filled with empty moments
Fixing everyone’s situations
Keeping my mind off my own
Creating my own misery
The brass ring was there and I grasped it

Fault me if you must
But never will you know the loneliness that fills my life
For you, love is never far away
For me, it’s lost in another’s life
Fault me if you must

However can we get back what is now lost?
Some say things are never the same
But I don’t believe a word
With time and understanding
The windshield will no longer be needed

Held tongues need to be forgotten
For in truthfulness will we be happy
Lost words, emotions left hidden
They are the cause for all the pain
No more lies, no more half-truths

From now on I will speak my heart
You know how hard that is for me
For I want nothing more
Than for those around me to find happiness
Is it wrong of me to grasp for the brass ring?

Should I deny myself momentary pleasures?
Keep my heart away from all?
How can I get to the place,
Where I can be free from it all?

Shun me if you must
For I would rather not have you at all if I can’t have your respect
Nothing more than a friend

Just an update

I finally worked up the nerve to give a copy of this poem to the person about whom it was written...sadly it cost me our friendship......but hopefully it will all work out n the end...

I would like to thank you all for the kind words and the encouragement that u have shown...it makes writting soo much easier knowing that there are ppl out there who enjoy your work...
