Do you watch game shows? Which ones?

I'm not a game show watcher on my own but I'll watch with other people.

Ones I've been enjoying is Idoitest:
If you buy into the title of this game show, you might be an idiot if you can't answer the questions asked of contestants. Each episode features two pairs of competitors, sometimes from a particular rivalry -- for example, UCLA vs. USC or Trekkies vs."Star Wars" fans -- participating in several rounds of simple, rapid-fire questions testing people's observational skills, attention to detail, and general knowledge. The winning pair takes home the money earned in the game and plays the bonus round, where even more cash is up for grabs. Comic Ben Gleib hosts the show that isn't afraid to call its players idiots

And The Chase:
Brooke Burns hosts this trivia battle based on a popular U.K. series. In the game, a team of three contestants takes part in a fast-paced quiz in an attempt to earn as much money as possible by answering a series of questions in 60 seconds. Any money earned goes into a team bank that can be won by any team members remaining at the end of the show. Competing against the team is a quiz genius known as the Beast. His role is to catch contestants by answering more questions than they, so they cannot bank money. In the final round, the contestants who have survived the initial chase battle the Beast for the entire amount that has been banked. But beating the Beast won't be easy. The trivia veteran has degrees from Oxford, Exeter and Glamorgan universities.

The only non scripted shows I watch are Hollywood Game Night and Lyp Sync Battle (kinda counts).

In the past I've loved Beat the Geeks, You Don't Know Jack, 70's Match Game, 70's Card Sharks and the original Press Your Luck. I'd rather eat broken glass than sit through an episode of Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune.

My friend/roommate lives for them. He started recording Match Game on the DVR and systematically transferred them to DVD-Rs, one week of shows per disk. (He found a list of episodes.) He has over 400 episodes that he watches over and over and over. He loves all the old shows. He actually drives me nuts by watching them. Anything before 1984 and he's on it, pretty much.

We sorta watch Hollywood Game Night. I watch Big Brother, but not The Amazing Race nor Survivor. I hate stuff like Cupcake Wars or Top Chef, etc. I hate things w/ "war" in the title. As if comparing murder & violence in the military to making a goddamn cupcake is the same thing. War is ugly. Cupcakes are good.

Other than that, I can't think of any other competition shows.

Did you ever see the documentary on the guy who had figured out the pattern of squares on Press Your Luck? He realized that the squares and Whammys popped up in certain patterns. He memorized it, got on the show, and blazed through the rounds. He was winning money on top of money. Production realized he had figured something out. He was winning so much, they took the $ off the light board in front of him to just show numbers. Even the host was like "WTF?" I forget how it all turned out, but the guy was always sort of a D-list person who was always looking for a scheme to make money. And really - he did successfully for a short while. He's since died. It's a fascinating documentary. In it, they found the original computer board that operated the sequence for the board. When the show was redone after that, the squares were random all around, so no pattern was ever present.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Do you have an Echo? We play that day's Jeopardy Echo-bonus questions from round one during the first commercial break.

Two shows I don't like are:

Divided - watching people argue on who should get the biggest pot until their money runs out or how fast folks will stab you in the back.

The Wall - watching a giant sideways pinball machine.
