Looks bad for Marvels Inhumans

Critics pan ABC 'Inhumans' series after IMAX premiere

ABC's and Marvel Television's "Inhumans" received disappointing reviews after having an underwhelming turnout at the IMAX premiere. (AP)

ABC's new series "Inhumans" has been plagued by less-than stellar reviews ever since it debuted its trailer at Comic-Con in July.

The reviews for the ABC and Marvel Television series have not improved after the first two episodes of the ABC and Marvel Television series premiered to nearly 700 IMAX theaters around the globe.

The eight-episode comic book-turned series, which is slated to premiere on Sept. 29 on ABC, was given an exclusive launch during the Labor Day weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The show, which stars Anson Mount, Serinda Swan and Iwan Rheon, received bad reviews from a number of publications.

IndieWire called the show “the worst thing Marvel has done in decades.” The critic, Liz Shannon Miller, reported that only four people were in attendance during the screening she went to. The show has a 0 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Variety reported that the show garnered an underwhelming $2.6 million from the IMAX release. The publication also said ABC was reportedly concerned over “the quality of ‘Inhumans’ episodes.”

“The fact that they really didn’t do that well for IMAX doesn’t bode well for other networks copying this strategy and also whether the show will be successful,” Brad Adgate, a media analyst, told Variety.

Marvel Television is not associated with Marvel Studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

...And that group shot looks particularly cheesy. confused

I've always found this team to be a bit boring. Even now my only interest is seeing Medusa's CGI treatment. Still, I'm sad to see the project is failing.

I was hoping it would be a spin off of Agents of Shield but the first trailer killed all enthusiasm I had for it. I haven't been keeping up with news about it since then. I'll still watch it and decide for myself if I like it. Batman vs Superman and Iron Fist were savaged by the critics too and I enjoyed both so hopefully I'll find something to like in this. Hopefully.

The original royal family by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee I always thought looked very cool--like an even stranger version of the X-Men with the hoofed Gorgon, aquatic Triton and even their giant dog Lockjaw (who, by the way, at one point was supposed to be a devolved person because of the terrigen mists eek http://www.cbr.com/marvel...on-or-pet/ ). However, the way they have become more mainstream in order to popularize them to the same level as the X-Men in the comics I agree have made them boring.

I haven't decided yet whether or not I'll catch an IMAX screening now that it has been universally panned. If I do go it will be to a discounted matinee show for sure.

I have a feeling this show won't make it pass the 8 episodes. It is flooded of Super heroes shows on Network TV an on Netflix now.

I remember the original plan for Inhumans a couple of years ago, with Vin Diesel, Jessica Chastain, and Jason Statham originally being considered for the big screen movie, but I think Marvel and Disney thought they were overextending the MCU too much too quickly, and with Disney being able to work a deal with Sony to bring Spider-Man into the MCU, they just scrapped the idea. Plus they weren't sure how they would incorporate the Inhumans into to the MCU after Infinity War, as they were a tangential connection to the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. I think they let this into the TV side just to see if there was any interest in this, but it appears there is none.

Just watched it today. No great but not bad either. My knowledge of these characters and their background is little. I don't have anything to really compare it to. I will be watching it every Friday til its conclusion.
