That's true...but that's like asking if a lightsaber could cut through Superman's arm. JediMaster says it could not, I say it could.

No, the matrix is computer generated. Neo is trying to save the real world. When he does he is a basic human. Mere food for a vampire.

Yeah, but how well would Blade do inside the Matrix? hmm

He is too powerful to fit in the matrix. He would short all the circuits in the system.

The Matrix was good, but seriously it wasn't much more than an expensive live action rip-off of all the really good anime flicks Japan has produced in the last 30-some years. And I'm NOT talkin' Sailor Moon or Pokemon.

Think about it:

1) Matrix and anime both have that technology meets real-world thing going on

2) Both have characters that go by silly nicknames

3) Both hold a complete disregard for the laws of physics.

So X-men wins my vote for the better movie. X-men have been around about 40 years, didn't blatantly rip off anything else I can think of, already had a devoted following, and managed to not completely suck the way most comic book movies do.

Saw both of these trailers last night--newer ones than previoulsy shown. X Men aint fuckin around this time. Looks leaner and meaner and Matrix looks more epic. Some people clapped at the end of Matrix trailer. I think Matrix will end up the winner due to X Men being relegated to the cominc book ghetto so to speak even though its extremely popular while Matrix is for general sci-fi fans which has a greater population. Lucky for all who dig them both nod

thanx for the update.

I wish they hadn't changed the X-Men costumes to black leather. I think it would be much more interesting to see Wolverine in yellow. You would then understand how he got into so many fights.

to me, the Matrix is a very well done film, but it's just a basic sci-fi plot with a twist (in that it's a Kung Fu movie).

X-Men, on the other hand, has deeper meaning and applies to real life. it's the story of the struggle of an entire class/race of people that are outcasts of society. all they want is to have the right to live in peace with the rest of humanity.

Yeah I think people sleep on the meaning of the Matrix, its biblical references, the man vs. machine, the post industrial, post modernist themes...

Has anyone checked out the Animatrix films? It combines the best of Anime with Matrix story lines. All 9 films are due out on DVD early summer; but four of them will be made available online (3 already are available for download).

"Resurrection" explains the origins of the Matrix, and the references to slavery, Biblical creation/God complex humanity, etc. are very clear.

check it out at: http://www.intothematrix.com

X-Men is the mutts nuts biggrin

I reckon they should do a film based (loosely or not) around the Age Of Apocolapse (sp?) series. No that would be superb biggrin
JaneyPoos used to be it... then they changed what it was. Now what I am isn't it and what is it is strange and frightening to me...

I'm very excited about both (well, actually all three films, since we get two Matrix sequels this year), but I must say that X2 is probably going to be the most pleasing. I think people have elevated in their minds how good the Matix sequels will be, that it can't possibly live up to their expectations. I expect a backlash, much like Star Wars Episode I. Not that I expect the films to be bad, just that I think people will be let down when it doesn't live up to what they imagined.

X2, on the other hand, is probably going to blow people away, when it raises the bar far beyond the previous film's scope. Since all the exposition of the previous flick is out of the way, this film will be able to focus more on action and character development. I think folks will look back on this summer, and say that X2 was their favorite. I'm sure The Matrix: Reloaded and The Matrix: Revolutions will win at the box office, but I think the X-Men will wind up as the sci-fi geek favorite.

And no, a lightsaber could not cut off Superman's arm! wink

People will love X Men-2 more tham the orignal of course, because the first one was a let down. Thats the general consensus with the entire film (and I wont get into Magnetos true to comic outfit-gear lol, or Storms "ya know what happens when" dialogue etc etc). It has nothing to do BUT be Marvel comic genre? Because if anything is or did already raise the bar it's Matrix..r.we know this already. A previously unheard of movie that came in and changed thigs, created two sides...regardless. About the falloput..neck and neck. And thats regardinhg those who aren't and won't be biased.

i'm not sure where you're getting this idea. the movie was very well-received by critics, the public, and especially X-Men fans. i was spending more time in internet X-Men circles at the time than Prince circles, and it was no a let down to any of them.
