Jerry Lewis - Dead at 91

source

Jerry Lewis -- the legendary comedian, actor, singer and director -- has died.

Penn Jillette just tweeted, "Jerry Lewis just died. When I met him, I fell apart, just sobbed. I guess it's time for that again." Another tweet from Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter John Katsilometes says Lewis died peacefully from natural causes at his home in Vegas ... attributing a statement from his family.

Lewis was one of the greatest comedians in the history of comedy. He was known for his slapstick routines and became enormously famous when he teamed up with Dean Martin in 1946.

Don't forget director. He developed many techniques like video assist which are still in use today. Lewis wrote the book The Total Filmaker which was based on his lectures at USC film school. It's the most thorough look at making movies covering directing, producing, writing, and editing. Martin Scorcese said it was his bible.

Never found his films funny, (*exception being Scorsese's KING OF COMEDY) but they're Saturday Matinee types from a "bygone era" so how could i?

No doubt he was incredibly talented and thorough in his career. It's still gonna be bogged down by all the hostility he's given fans over the years. There are gonna be a lot of people saying: "finally, that @$$#0le is dead! ...insult my wife, would he?"

[He was still talking s#!+ to his elderly fans right up until 2016 : last written incidence: aero theater Santa Monica: promoting his film]

When anybody so significant dies, it is sad.

Seemed like he would make it to 100 like George Burns. Great childhood memories. RIP
