It is a study of the General Discussion to see what types of posts generate a higher post/view ratio than others. By all being by the same author (Aerogram), it eliminates the possibility of "popularity" of one particular member, thereby being a more focused study. My only thought is that as the number of posts increase, the more likely people will be to view the thread. It's still a fascinating study.

woot!

PHASE FIVE REPORT

STIMULI : Suggestive animation for men (both gay and hetero). Might be enjoyed by lesbians and hetero women who like Spiderman even if he's dancing like the gayest superhero ever.

RV RATIO AT PHASE START : 29/162
RV RATIO AT PHASE END : 39/200
DOMINANT TYPE OF REPLIES : Puzzlement at the experiment.

RESEARCHER'S COMMENTS
Disappointing results, considering the nature of the stimuli. This could be partly due to the mixing of gay and hetero stimuli, but another explanation is more plausible (see Final Report).

I don't know if this is relevant or not, but since the testing began, I've been getting a burning sensation when I pass urine and slight heart palpitations.

FINAL REPORT

STIMULI : Five categories of stimuli were presented to the subjects, from the non-existent to the titillation. Some stimuli had already been proven to have favorable effects of the reply/view ratio.

RV RATIO AT PHASE START : 0/0
RV RATIO AT PHASE END : 39/200
DOMINANT TYPE OF REPLIES : Disparate.

RESEARCHER'S COMMENTS

As noted above, some stimuli are known to arouse response and viewing, but did not in this case. We explored different explanations for these particular results. A look at the time stamps eliminated the first possibility, while a quick look at other threads eliminated the second.

We are therefore left with the third : the author and his personal popularity. A quick look at the "Secret of Instant Org Stardom" reveals that this specific poster has disregarded many of the cardinal rules of Org stardom. He lacks the name recognition and personal charisma to bring other Orgers to his threads despite the most alluring stimuli.

CONCLUSION

The thread creator himself/herself is part of the stimulation. The subjects send both the stimulus and the person presenting it, amd make a decision as to responding.

Therefore, it is not enough to create crowd-pleasing topics. The author must also be stimulating and be accepted in the forum fabric as a provider of specific stimuli.

Couldn't you just have started a thread about masturbating or something? smile

There you go, proving my theory. Ever since you typed "masturbation", this thread got 50 views.

Haystack + masturbation = More views.

Now that I've just typed the same word, I bet I'll get lucky to get a dozen views.

Baby, I'm Ishtar. smile
