Is there any excuse for being ridiculously overly overweight? I'm not hating on overweight people at all, but why or how can someone allow themselves to gain so much weight and make life uncomfortable? _______________________________________________________________________________________ You can hate me for who I am, cuz I won't be something that i'm not.

Glandular problems.
Heredity. Depression. Addiction. Those are just four possibilities off the top of my head... ...and some people who are chunked in the trunk are actually PROUD of their girth. I say right on for anyone who's happy with what mama nature gev 'em... close to the edit [This message was edited Fri Apr 11 14:39:23 PDT 2003 by Anxiety]

I remember a line from Elaine C. Smith (Scottish comedienne) which went something like this:
"I'm not fat, it's my glands. I've got a greedy-bastard-gland." It WAS funnier when she said it, honest!

I give my props to anyone who is comfortable and proud of their thickness. But there comes a point when changes need to be made when it's uncomfortable to get in or out of a car, or to sit down in a seat, when you tire easily from walking a short distance, etc. I don't see how or why anyone can live a comfortable life when mundane things becomes a problem. _______________________________________________________________________________________ You can hate me for who I am, cuz I won't be something that i'm not.

I think there is a difference between people who are fat and people who start to weigh 3,4, or 5 hundred pounds.
These people will die shortly as the human body was not designed to handle that. You very rarely see an ultra obese senior citizen.

Hey...I know this girl personally and she is not fat (she just has some junk in the trunk In all seriousness she weighs no more then 120 so she probably doesn't belong on this thread (even though I sent her an IM suggesting she should share her reasons for being fat ) . Some people are overweight and happy... and there are some, that, due to the conditions that Anxiety mentioned really have not much of a choice in the matter... of course, there are others who bitch about their weight and don't do anything about it either... I think those may be the ones you are referring to, and with those people, no, there really is no excuse.

Yes, sometimes it is a physical problem that isn't always curable.
