maybe a small slit in the glass or a seam?

There are a few ways these tricks are done. Some are done with help from the people inside the glass... in fact MANY of these in your face tricks the person is in on it... like when the card gets into someone's shoe... that guy was in on it... when the make the statue of liberty vanish...the people there are IN on it...

in this case, I do not think the orangutan is in on it...
