Don't get a woman to do a man's job...

This is just my opinion really...

I was wondering when thinking of this statement how true this is nod ... well can be...

I was thinking long and hard and I was thinking of all the stuff I like (comedy and music mainly)

And i thought... who do i actually like in these fields that are female? confuse

demon question demon question demon

Women may say things that make me chuckle a little, but i find the most influnetial people to me are all male confuse this is music, comedy well actually general life...

Saying this i dont hate women confuse women are/ can be great and I'm hardly saying that every single bloke is better than women or whatever...

Damn I've strayed from the point... lol

Okay then the original concept... confuse what wqas it again question oh yes...

There are funny women out there, but they don't seem to be able to compare in my opinion. There may be women who are very good at music but they still seem incomparable...

As I did say... (before people get offended which i don't want) it is my opinion solely, these are my influences and who i respect and admire, it was just a statement...

Try name me some women in the musical spectrum that compare to Prince, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, John Lennon etc. There are women who are 'good' but they are not quite like that are they... can u give me any examples in that field that i can download and judge...

Damn this whole thread so far sounds like i have an inferiority complex lol

Anyway I jus' thought it would pose interesting debate...

(now i've said that i bet none of u buggers will post! lol )

I would put Joni Mitchell up there with Prince and Jimi and co.

As far as female comedians go, there really aren't that many greats, imho. Daisy Donovan does crack me up though!

In terms of music I'd say Joni Mitchell is a good example as stated earlier. Vocally, Sarah Vaughn has a few peers on her level Ella Fitzgerald being one and Shirley Horn being the other IMO. Few men can match them. Then we come to Billie Holiday worship and Aretha Franklin also comes to mind.

When it comes to instruments there's Teri Lynne Carrington (marry me), Sheila E. (naturally) and Cindy Blackmon on drums. For multi instrumentalists there's Me'Shell. Prince is sort of an unfair comparison for the simple fact that he dominates this field and that includes men as well as women.

In terms of comedy you got me there. Pryor will always be the King for me. smile

Hmmm I see Joni Mitchell is a firm favourite... but we really are trying to find equal standards...

I understand what you are all saying though so don't get me wrong (i'm not sooo stuck in my ways honest lol )

Just try and think of influential female singers and musicians... perhaps that do both... that are as well known and influential to performers and general people.

And incase any1 thinks it i don't think madonna is an option like others mentioned she is/ can be 'good' but she is not on a par with the guys. Besides which most of madonna's career appears based on image (which is a different matter although quite abit of her stuff rather cool biggrin )

comedy wise can u really find an equal to the greats? once again its good... but its not great...
