I, too, was stopped for awhile the other day...
"L" day in Dearborn...Iraqi-Americans had the nerve to celebrate up and down Warren Ave... I was almost home... Timing IS everything my friend... Glad your OK... Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

This and Toronto in less than a week ~ you need some serious R & R !!! Was Indigo with you?
I am so happy you are ok. Maybe my fear of driving on expressways has some reason??? Those Tim Horton are worth a lot of effort ~ I love the fruit explosion muffins too!

TRON said: Tonight I was out driving, taking my movies back to Blockbuster. I got a sudden hankering for some peanut butter cookies from Tim Horton's. Instead of taking my usual route home on Gratiot Ave. I took the expressway (94 East actually). I was on it for less than a half mile when I saw a van ahead of me with its hazards on stopped in the middle of the road. I changed lanes only to find out there was something blocking the entire highway, all 3 lanes and both shoulders. A gas tanker had tipped over. I got out of my car to talk to the dude standing there and he said it had just happened. The dust was still settling. I wondered if I should go check on the driver cuz there was no one moving by the truck, but I was afraid to get near it in case it exploded. But it turned out that the dude I was talking to sent his passenger to check on him. Luckily, he came stumbling out holding his head, but alive. Shortly after that, tons of cars started piling up behind us and there was no turning around. Countless cops, paramedics and fire trucks arrived within minutes. Luckily, the driver was okay and the tanker didn't blow. But it took over an hour to get everyone out of there. They blocked off the highway so no other cars could enter and redirected us one by one to an alternate route, right back on Gratiot. At first I was nervous. Then I was impatient. Then I was having fun. Then I was grateful. What a strange little detour. And all that for cookies.
Same thing happened to me just when I finished my First Aid course. A car had gone through a stop sign and hit another car in the middle of an intersection. It must have just happened, because I pulled up and the cars were on their sides and a young girl was badly injured. I gave her medical attention and positioned my car, with hazard lights on, so that on coming cars wouldn't get caught. She was fine, just a bad cut on her forehead and the other driver walked away. Makes you glad that you know what you are doing in these situatons. . [This message was edited Thu Apr 10 15:36:33 PDT 2003 by althom]
