I've already seen Alien Covenant and I liked it. Mind you, I liked Prometheus as well but the new Alien is definitely better so don't let that put you off. There's a few big movies coming out this summer that I have zero interest in like Baywatch, Transformers, and the new Planet of the Apes movie. And the only reason I'm remotely interested in The Mummy is Tom Cruise. I love me some Tom Cruise. Then there are movies I'm really looking forward to like Wonder Woman and the new Spider-Man. I think the DC movies have been unfairly marginalised by a lot of critics. Batman vs Superman was pretty good (especially the longer cut) and Suicide Squad was decent. They were far from perfect but definitely underrated so my hopes for Wonder Woman are high. As far as Spider-Man goes, I haven't been let down by an MCU movie yet (if we pretend Iron Man 2 doesn't exist) plus Michael Keaton is in it so that's an automatic trip to the cinema for me. I'm less enthused about the new Pirates movie but apparently early reviews are positive so I'll give it a chance. I didn't like either of the Cars movies but it's Pixar, so I'll be seeing Cars 3 and hoping for the best. Perhaps the movie I'm most looking forward to this summer is Blade Runner. I love the original and I'm (perhaps naively) thinking that the sequel may just do it justice.

If you haven't seen Guardians yet I'd recommend it. It's pretty good but not great. Batista is good in it. I already have my ticket booked for Wonder Woman

Agreed, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was kind of a long movie to watch. But been a fan of all the original 5 movies/TV Show/Cartoon. Need to see how this plays out. Have a feeling if they make alot of movies some will be better than others.

I saw the James Franco Planet of the Apes also and really liked it. Haven't seen the sequel. Of course, at the time I revisited the original Planet of the Apes and enjoyed it just as much as when I was a kid. But, when I watched the sequel to the original 60s version, I was floored at how bad it was--I laughed my ass off. Terrible movie. But, I did like the later sequels with Cornelius (Roddy McDowell) rising up from slavery and then the last one where he tried to lead the apes in the future and ape committed murder against ape and he found out they were no better than humans. The TV series wasn't too bad either although it was pretty limited to the expected plot devises. Planet of the Apes has a really cool back story to it. It basically help save the studio (think it was 20th century FOX) from bankruptcy after Cleopatra got the studio in debt. There was no plan to make sequels (not like today) but the movie was such a hit the studio asked for another film. Charlton Heston was not interested in doing it and thought the movie was perfect and did not need a sequel. The studio pushed him into and agree to have a small part (you see him in the beginning and the end) so for Beneath the Planet of the Apes they hired James Francisus (a Heston look alike) in the lead. So that movie also does very well. Thus the studio ask for another film. The creators of the film said we blew up planet Earth, how do we do another movie??? So they did Escape from the Planet of the Apes and did a time warp so 3 apes survived the explosion, which in hind sight lead to how the Apes took over the planet. So the studio ended up asking for 2 more movies thus Conquest and Battle for the planet of the Apes were made. How ever the studio kept giving them a smaller budget. The apes in the background are wearing really bad masks. So after 5 movies they decided on a TV show. Was a good tv show and was nice to see Roddy McDowall in it. The 2 lead actors in the show were also very likeable. Then they finished with a cartoon series called return to the planet of the apes. I really liked the cartoon, and yes I love the 70's retro drawings (better animation than Samurai Jack, Teen Titans, Star Wars clone wars IMO). Like the Star Trek cartoon the planet of the apes cartoon was written for adults, and some very good stories considering it's a Saturday morning cartoon. Not bad 5 movies, TV show, Cartoon in a 8 year span.
