Are Boyfriends/Girlfriends, Considered Family?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
It depends on how long you're together. I was with my ex off and on for 10 years, ever since I was 14. Even though we're not together anymore I still consider him family. Then there are people I'm related to who I don't consider to be family.

No...Boyfriends/Girlfriends are not considered family..it does not matter how long you been dating, if you don't have a RING then you're just "Company" that enjoys the benefits of Dating & Sex....Even saying I Love you does NOT Trump a RING...

What if, like me, you don't acknowledge the "importance" of a RING and you view marriage as unnecessary and outdated? I suppose it depends on your definition of family...

they can be 'considered' anything... they are not. when you have a fam with a bf/gf it they become a part of YOUR fam and your child is in the fam but until there is 'the family name' (the only reason to marry) placed on erbody... it's just an 'immediate' and doesn't have to be accepted by others outside of that 'atomic family'... folks tend to like 'considerin' themselves all kinds of things in life. a rock will never be a marshmellow no matter what they taste like or how many people go toothless thinkin they marshmellows... i am KING BAD!!!

I agree...to a certain extent. You can be in a relationship with someone for 4-5 years and the signficant other can be considered family, that is, if that person has been present at most family functions/events, etc. In fact, if you are dating someone long term but they aren't considered family, then something is very wrong, IMO. It depends. One would think that if you are close to your family, that you would bring your boyfriend/girlfriend around, so your family would become familiar with your signficant other and become "part of the family". I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Legally? No. Outside of that it's a personal preference, like ones pets or something. Legally, your dog doesn't inherit crap but you love em just as deeply as your kid, in some cases.

That's simply how you view it..It's not for me or anyone else to judge it...

Of course - everyone of my bfs was the person I was closest to at the time we were together and if I had to chose one person as my closest family member I would have always chosen my bf. With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Depends for sure. My BF and I have been together for almost 4 years now. I definitely consider him family and sees me the same way. His mother treats me like family ,etc... "Where you are now is in a place that does not require time." - Rest In Power, PRINCE
