I'm kind of the opposite as far as spoilers are concerned. I generally try to avoid anything to do with whatever it is I'm looking forward to. I don't WANT to see any trailers for Episode 8. But, at the same time, I know I WILL rewatch it over and over again when the trailer does show up online.

Since Episode I, I have been completely spoiled for every SW movie...until Rogue One. So far so good for The Last Jedi. I'm going to avoid spoliers...but once I see a trailer, thats when it will become a challenge not to go hunting. May the Force be with me...

When the trailer for Episode I was released that just blew my mind and expected it to be so extremely awesome... And then the movie was released and was a cringefest... Never bothered with the AOTC trailers and that one was equally horrid as Episode I, then watched one trailer for Episode III (just hoping to see Vader) movie was slightly less awful... Then watched trailers for Episode VII didn't like 'em but then really like the movie... Watched trailers for "Rogue One" and liked 'em a lot, then the movie comes out and is as awful as Episode III...
So here's hoping the trailers for "The Last Jedi" are truly shit so the movie will turn out awesome...
It just kinda annoys me that the movie picks up right after the of Episode VII with them standing on that hill...

I was only 9 yeas old when Phantom Menace came out and I had absolutely no expectations for it because I had never seen a Star Wars movie up to that point. Maybe that's why I don't think it's as bad as other people do. Episode 2 was the worst of them but I really liked episode 3, mainly because of the last 40 minutes or so. The dialogue is beyond awful and how Anakin couldn't see he was being manipulated makes him look really stupid but despite a few glaring flaws, I liked it. Obviously the originals are the better movies, maybe because George Lucas didn't direct them (aside from A New Hope).
I'm really excited for Episode 8 because I loved 7 AND Rogue One so my hopes are high for the next installment. I just hope that in 18 years time I'm not saying how awful I though it was only to have some snot nosed brat tell me she thought it was good because she had no expectations for it because she'd never seen a Star Wars movie before. smile

There have always been prequel haters, but until those dumbass Red Letter Media reviews people didn't feel required to hate them. Conformity gone mad. AOTC has the worst dialogue ever and an unbelievable infatuation≠love story, but everything else is terriffic if you understand the story well imho. When I marathon the movies I find Eps 1 through 5 relatively easy to sit through but get distracted and take a break or quitting during ROTJ and TFA. Maybe I don't have the drive to watch 7 movies in 7 days or I don't find them as compelling to watch for the 2,000th(rotj) and 19th (TFA) time.

The Last Jedi should be the best Star Wars movie or second best based on who's making it. Though I'm not sure I can live with Episode 9 not having Leia even though there's no choice.

the prequels were bad but not horrible. The biggest issue is they could never live up to 16 years of anticipation. I know I could come up with a better treatment *given what we ended up as a start or maybe not* as I am sure many others could.

As for this movie: I hope to not see any trailers or any real bits of it... i did read the first line and i was annoyed. Like with rogue one i do not want to see a spoiler in a article title! But that line is not that big of a deal.

But i want to be pure this time! I can not believe it is 9 months away!

I enjoyed the experience of seeing Rogue One opening Friday at 9:00 AM in a 21 and over balcony with breakfast menus and gratuity included in the bill. I may do that again instead of a preview showing, I'm getting to old to be up until 3 am reading about a premiere I just went to.

I just re-watched Ep 1-7 a few weeks ago. While the prequels weren't the best, they certainly weren't the worst to me, anyway. Ep 1 was totally geared to children and I can respect that. It was starting a new generation of fans, however quite a few of the kids' parents didn't get it. Some people hate Ep 7, but I liked it enough to see it nine times in the theater. I wanted to get to Rogue One as many times as Ep 7, but scheduling just didn't work out for me this time around although the first showing I went in my Jedi robes. I guess the point I'm trying to make is "To each their own." Someone can believe one thing is the greatest thing they've ever seen, and another person will shit all over it. shrug

End of old man rambling.

My guess is that they make a reference to her character passing in the opening crawl for Episode IX which will of course have an impact on that story. I'm somewhat relieved they're not changing anything for Episode VIII.

Or just kill her via CGI... They did a decent job in Rogue One with Cushing and Fisher...

‘Star Wars’ Fans Should Be Very Excited About This New Backstory Book

On Thursday, a hashtag swept the “Star Wars” Twittersphere alerting fans that an announcement was on the horizon. That announcement, per the Del Rey Star Wars Twitter account, was to have something to do with a much-anticipated book code-named #OperationBlueMilk.

On Friday, Del Ray spilled the denta beans, revealing that the book in question, Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View, is due out October 2017.

The book involves more than 40 authors telling 40 stories that center around the background characters of “A New Hope.” (Think “X-wing pilots who helped Luke destroy the Death Star,” according to the Star Wars website, and “stormtroopers who never quite could find the droids they were looking for.” And most definitely everyone in the that cantina.)

After months of speculation about Carrie's future in the sci-fi saga, Todd has revealed that Disney bosses want to bring Princess Leia back for Episode IX. And he said he and Carrie's daughter, Billie Lourd, have granted the studio rights to use recent footage for the finale. It is understood that CGI will not be used to recreate Leia.

“Both of us were like, ‘Yes, how do you take her out of it?’ And the answer is you don't,” said Fisher, as he attended the opening night gala of the TCM Film Festival in Los Angeles, celebrating “In the Heat of the Night.”

“She’s as much a part of it as anything and I think her presence now is even more powerful than it was, like Obi Wan — when the saber cuts him down he becomes more powerful. I feel like that's what's happened with Carrie. I think the legacy should continue.”

To what extent Leia will figure in to the storyline is not clear. “I’m not the only part in that equation, but I think the people deserve to have her,” said Fisher. “She's owned by them.”

And he said he had total faith in the filmmakers to “do great things.”

“You don't mess with this legacy,” he said. “It would be like rewriting the Bible. To me, Star Wars is the holy grail of storytelling and lore and you can't mess with it.”

I don't hunt them out actively, but if I see a link, I'll click on it.

That's because at least 75% of them will be wrong or at least partially inaccurate.

I'm expecting a huge twist, a la Episode V. I'm also expecting them to continue to incorporate some material from the (now non-canon) EU, just as they did with Kylo Ren.

Yeah I need to watch it again. Still not familiar with all their names. Yeah Darth Vader kicking ass at the end (which leads into new hope) was awesome.

I have gotten Beat up for not going Goo-Goo-ga-ga over Rogue One...Darth's appearance is the ONLY thing that made it worthwhile...

Maybe I'm too hard on the plot or maybe I'm just worn out with prequels..I could care less about Maps or that little Girl's STUPID mother risking her life.....The players in Rogue One were not bad but they simply did not win me over..And I'm so SICK of the British accents...

I don't know, maybe it's time for Star Wars to end the franchise...A second viewing, I must...

Rogue One's space battle is the best in any Star Wars movie. It's also quite a tearjerker. I didn't cry at Han dying in TFA but I cried when Jyn and Cassian were hugging each other knowing they were about to die from the Death Star blast (I sucked it up at the cinema but at home I let it out). Plus the Alliance briefing was so well done unlike in that subpar Return of the Jedi movie.
