Why two? Eeek what an unfortunate thing to happen in any case! It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

Unfortunate for Beatty and Dunaway, but why the hell didn't he say "Hold up, we've got a problem here, I've clearly got the wrong envelope". www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

I kind of feel sorry for him. Some people are calling him an arsehole for handing the envelope to faye dunaway so she'd get the flak for saying the wrong name but I don't think that's what he did. I think he was showing her what it said in the hope that they could maybe save the situation without alerting anyone and instead, she just seen "La La Land" written down and blurted it out. Obviously, with hindsight, he should have said "I think they gave me the wrong envelope" but in the moment, he probably just panicked. It's not as though presenters at these shows expect something like that to go wrong. If he's still alive next year. I bet they'll have him present another award and spoof this incident though.

Well, yeah, he is experienced with being on stage but he is, after all, a man who's nearly 80 years old. Maybe 10, 15 years ago he might have reacted differently but I think people should cut him some slack. Whatever idiot was in charge of giving him the envelope in the first place is to blame and considering their other mishaps you've listed, I hope they're not involved with next year's ceremony.

This fiasco had nothing to do with Warren Beatty. The fault lies with th folks behind the scenes who are responsible for managing the envelopes. They are the ones that f*cked up. Congratulations to Moonlight.

Warren felt so bad and stood there and tried to explain himself. You can see how awful he must have felt for the mix up.

Aside from the monumental cock-up at the end, it was a decent enough show. Jimmy Kimmel was ok as presenter and I think the people who won deserved it (for the most part). On a personal level, I was disappointed that Denzel didn't win for best actor and Mel Gibson didn't win for best director but realistically, Mel never stood a chance and Casey Affleck was brilliant so I can't be too upset. Next year, I'd like to see something a bit different. Maybe change up the formula a bit and add a few categories like Best Stunt and Best Action Choreography. And after what happened this year, it would be funny if Steve Harvey is on hosting duties next year. Failing that, maybe someone like Jerry Seinfeld, who wastes no time telling people what he thinks of these kinds of events could host. Although, my personal choice would be Conan O'Brien.

I never said I wanted Casey Affleck to lose because of any domestic violence claims. I said that stuff doesn't matter when judging his performance in a movie. The reason I wanted Denzel to win is the same reason I wanted Mel Gibson to win. I'm a fan of their previous work.

2freaky4church1 said: Casey deserved it. Ali deserved it; Viola deserved it. Yes I agree. Viola was amazing. When I saw fences, for me it was a bit jarring because the cast was still in "play" mode, where Viola who is always amazing was subtle and nuanced which is more appropriate for a movie or television which is far more intimate. So the only criticism i had was that to me it felt like Denzel and Viola were in two different movies. Not that he was bad, just that he couldn't draw me in the same way in how broad his performance was vs Viola.

This year in a lot of the top awards, they could have handed them to any of the nominees because they were equally good. It is kinda unfair to pit them against each other because they were so different and equally good. Supporting actress, director and best picture for sure. I think it's more about preference in subject matter and genre because technically they were all so good. It was refreshing seeing new eyes and tastes in the mix. That's always a great thing for any media. They shake us from complacency. Love where digital images on these cameras have gone. They have surpassed film stock for sure. It's been a while where the cinematography has so impressed me. We are seeing images that were almost imposible with traditional cameras. Especially now with high definition televisions, film stock images look so soft vs the sharpness and vibrancy of what these new cameras can deliver.
