The gentlemen on Linux Action Show mention the KDE laptop...
Thanks for the link Dom' because I hadn't looked at the machine or its specs, until now. I'm not a KDE fan or user but I like the fact KDE Classic Series, gives you the option of selecting your Distro of choice. KDE classic 599 euros = $623.00 USD, that's pretty reasonable.
Still, I'd like to see someone, anyone come out with a $289 / $395 Linux laptop. Until that price point can be achieved, I think Linux will remain a niche market. You can't expect people to plunk down a couple hundred or a grand for a Distro / OS who've used Windows all of their lives. Until Linux introduces an entry level computer to the market place (ARM SBC doesn't count) I see difficulty in Linux moving into the mainstream as a viable option. (IMHO)
What do I mean by entry level cost? Chuwi Laptop 14.1 There are rumors Chuwi is adding Ubuntu to their tablet/laptop hybrid, Chuwi H12, time will tell. | |
