How complicated is it to read the Silmarillion?

Even I know this trailer is fake. Especially after reading so many comments about how complex the Silmarillion is. But I'd still like to know does it represent what could be in such a movie?

It's like trying to make a movie of the Old Testament.

Honestly, I never finished the book. Compared to the hobbit and the lord of the rings it's more complicated, a lot of details to keep in mind and too slow paced.

I find this video extremely helpful. There's also part 2 that explains the lord of the rings series.

It'd be actually great if Peter Jackson gave a shot at making the book into a series of movies though

Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

I've see tons of stuff about the making of the Silmarillion. This one got so many thumbs up I was wondering if it really does give a feel for the book. Seems a shame with all the remakes that something people are begging for seems impossible to accomplish.

Yeah, I guess that kind of puts it into perspective.

I tried to read it years ago, got thru the elves origin...but I kind of lost interest. I cut forward to the story of how Sauron became the master, the forging of the rings and all that, but I've always told myself I would go back and read the entire thing. It's still sitting on the shelf...

Make it so, Number One...

Add me to the list because I didn't finish it either. lol

I've read all the other LOTR books but this one was waaay too convoluted.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

It really sounds like a commitment. So buying over borrowing. And no rush reading.
