WhatChu Been Reading? Despite the fact that America and the world has just been grabbed by its pussy and the end of the American experiment is nigh, I have had the most amazing couple of years. 2016 is been awful for what is on the news, but great for what I've been doing personally. One of the things I've learned to do is withdraw from my news addiction and simply read it in print form once a week. As an expat living abroad, that's rather easy to do. Ergo, I've had plenty of time to fill the gaps with catching up on reading. Last month alone, I've read 5 books--this is a record for me in a month. 1. Lord of the Flies -Golding (Again). : 5/5 2. The sun Also Rises - Hemingway. 3.5/5 3. Tender is the Night - F. Scott Fitzgerald. 2/5 4. The Call - Yannick Murphy 4/5 5. Star Wars Bloodlines - 3.5/5 On my shortlist is this book: http://www.barnesandnoble...0997193817 Harbors - By Donald Quist An African American's experience from both sides of the ocean. I actually know this author and he's a great guy. The book has gotten tremendous reviews. What have you ho's been reading?

I am currently reading Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, & The Marriage of the Century (2011) by Sam Kashner & Nancy Schoenberger. It's a real page turner I give it a 3 out of 5
Life With My Sister Madonna by Christopher Ciccone (2008) I was expecting a total bitchfest .....but it wasn't too bad 3.5 out of 5

I am loving what I am working on personally, such as writing stories and everything, despite still being in school. But the book I am currently reading is "Gone With the Wind." Erin Smith

I just finished reading it for the 6-7 time. It took me a couple of reads to fully appreciate what a masterpiece it truly is. I recently read Lion! Fantastic true story. Can't wait to see the movie.

The last book by the late great Mexican writer Carlos Fuentes. I read it in Dutch, but I think the English title is Will and Faith. [Edited 12/19/16 11:20am]

The Ciccone book on Madonna is pretty decent. It's a bit bitchy in it, but you know - he was there for it. It it what it is, and frankly no one would know anything about him were it not for his sister. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I'm finishing up Middlesex by Jeffrey Eudenides. Overall, it was very, very good! Part coming of age story (an unknowingly intersex girl with a genetic mutation who at puberty discovers that she is genetically male when her body begins to change) and part family saga of a Greek couple building their life in Detroit after fleeing their war torn homeland. If you will, so will I
