.

I listened to it as an audio-book.

.

It was fifty hours long, which is twice as long as most audio-books

.

I actually listened to it as though it was literature.

.

I listened to it for fifteen hours before I gave up on it.

no. i don't care HOW much $$ that book has generated. it's about sexual violence and personal abasement. lowest common literary denominator: sex and violence.

imo, the fact that FSOG is popular at all is like the trump phenomena. maybe if i didn't come from a childhood background of domestic violence and personal childhood molestation, i'd feel differently.

but imo marketing violence against women - no matter how sexy, no matter how seductive on an animal level - is vile.

also, i dislike the origin of the series for the same reasons.

i'm not a critic. smile this is just my 2c

I never had any interest in reading it. I read some of the reviews on Amazon and they were hilarious (making fun of the book) === Since I haven't read it, I can't say, but it seems absolutely stupid. A billionaire? eck-

I thought the writing was about the same level as a Harlequin Romance Novel.

But because I listened to the audio book, the voice actress was part of my experience.

She wasn't great, but it probably wasn't her fault, because you can only do so much with a bad script.

The book didn't have much of a plot, at least the part I listened to didn't seem to be going anywhere interesting.

I listened to it because of all of the jokes about it that people were making on TV.

.

I wanted to understand what was so funny about the jokes so I listened to it.

.

It was a big disappointment and I am suprised by how popular it was.

I read it before it became really popular and for the life of me, I can't understand how it got so big. It's really really bad. Some of the worst writing I've ever seen. Terrible grammar, cringe worthy dialogue and possibly the most unsexy sex scenes ever written. I don't have any problem with the nature of what's depicted in it and I wouldn't condemn a fictional story for violence towards women, but the crime of bad writing is something I could never forgive.

Edit: The film was crap too.

Bad, bad, Godawful! lol The writing was unimaginative and horrible... how many times did she write "hot", could've made it into a drinking game. lol

We talked about this series of books when it was all the rage. One of our members of our Book Club made this her selection... we told her if she ever picked some shit like this again, we'd kick her out of the club. We have an org member (Paintedlady) who doesn't come around much anymore but she has gift for writing erotica.

I don't have an issue with the author exploring bondage /S&M per-say. What consenting adults agree to do to each other is none of my business. What I took exception with, the author failed to do any research on those who are into bondage /S&M. It's my understanding people who are into bondage / S&M.... you've always been curious about and/or knew you enjoy it when you tried it. Of all sexual acts or fetishes.... this ain't something someone can be talked into doing and enjoying.

Number one, this girl and the guy weren't on the same page... age, experience, social economic level and otherwise. What I took from the book, Gray wanted someone barely legal he could beat the shit out of and manipulate. Besides, he had issues up the ass, which weren't this girls problems nor was it her responsiblity to cure, help, or save him. The only thing she should have been doing is getting away from crazy-ass.

Not only were the book and movie unsexy, but they were boring as hell, too.

I didn't get anywhere near that far because I found the writing unbearable. Thanks for letting me know I didn't miss anything. lol

My coworker's hubby tried to read it on a flight. As soon as the plane landed he threw the book in the trash.

Seeing a film based on that garbage is unthinkable. I would sooner watch the Wayans parody movie.

OMG

.

Is it one of those movies that is so bad that it is good?

.

I love a good bad movie as long as it is not too violent.

.

Is it one of those?

This chick wanted use to read the trilogy, it didn't happen. lol lol lol Luckily, before the writer "novel" went to print, you could download her book online for free. If I had paid for that shit, our book member would have been thrown out of our reading club.

I have an account with Audible.com, and they gave me a full refund on Fifty Shades of Gray.

.

I have a feeling that I wasn't the first customer to demand a refund on that audiobook.
