Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Does anyone know if insurance typically covers getting checked and treated for this? I wanna call my doctor or my insurance company, or someone, I just don't know where to get started. But my wrists are becoming very very sore as a result of being at a computer all day long 7 days a week. I just dont have a ton of money to be paying doctor bills out the wazoo.

YES ... It is standard! ( As does your workers compensation benefits probably! )

Yup they will. Make sure you get a good doctor, mine sucked. My wrists were swollen and I asked if I had carpal tunnell and the doctor said "Yeah maybe, here take these" and gave me some kind of pills that made me feel crappy.

If they suggest surgery get a second opinion. People I've talked to got cortisone shots instead and they've made out pretty well. Surgery is a pain in the ass, and you won't be able to wipe your own ass for a long time eek

A chiropractor can treat Carpal Tunnel w/o surgery
so you may want to look into that. A chiropractor will
treat you w/o the use of medication. Medication will mask the problem the time being only to come back later. Try finding whats called an AK doctor or Kinesiologist. This type of chiropractor treats very hollistic and will provide corrective care for you! If it is work related file a claim! All w/c ins covers chiropractic care, some health ins do not.

My mother has dealt with carpal tunnel symdrome due to many years working in a job where she typed all day or worked on a computer.

She did the cortisone shots for quite awhile to put off having the surgery, but ultimately ended up having surgery on both hands. If your case of carpal tunnel is bad enough, the cortisone shots aren't going to last or really be of any benefit after awhile. Since she had the surgeries she's had no more problems or pain. She had the surgeries done years ago, and even back then it really wasnt' too awful of an experience (more inconvenient than anything else...) but these days they've perfected medical procedures so much more, and it probably is even less of a big deal than when she had it done.

Your insurance should cover the costs of treatment - whatever it turns out to be - for this, especially if you developed the syndrome as a consequence of performing your job.

I don't want to sound like a smart ass but if you start to ask medical questions on the org (apart from those about any unusual condition of your testicals and/or nipple pearcing) you really might spend too much time on the computer.

Switch it off take a walk. This and a bottle of Radian B Muscle Lotion helped my wrists getting better.

im at work now, and dont have that big packet if insurance info in front of me to look through. i've honestly never used my health insurance before so i wasn't sure what the whole procedure was or if things like this are even typically covered. i was just lookin for a quick answer.

You dont need your insurance handbook. There is an 800 number on your insurance card for customer service. Call them and they will answer anything you want!

You could ask a chiropractor for ultrasound treatments to help with the swelling.
