Update on the Book Club There are no updates.
We are still waiting to see how this thing is going to work on this site. But that's okay. The main reason for starting this thread is to see where everybody is. Remember the book we will be discussing is Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M. Coetzee. It's availaible online at Amazon and probably in your local bookstore. Has everyone managed to get a hold of a copy? Has anyone started reading it yet? (I am about 75 pages in!) Also if I could get another head count of everyone who wants to be involved and kept updated, that would be great. Post here or Orgnote me. I'm loving the book! Here's a little tease for all you still on the fence!: All this erotic behavior of mine is indirect: I prowl about her, touching her face, caressing her body, without entering her or finding the urge to do so. I have just come from the bed of a woman for whom, in the year I have known her, I have not for a moment had to interrogate my desire: to desire her has meant to enfold her and enter her, to pierce her surface and stir the quiet of her interior into an ecstatic storm; then to retreat, to subside, to wait for desire to reconstitute itself. But with this woman it is as if there is no interior, only a surface across which I hunt back and forth seeking entry. Is this how her torturers felt hunting their secret, whatever they thought it was?
Mmmm Mmm, damn that's good prose. I hope other people are enjoying it so far as well. Post here and let's keep this thing moving!

this is off topic but that avatar you're sportin' looks a bit like conan the barbarian, 2the9s. except for the hat thingy, the njose, eyes and lips. also, conan was probably darker of skin, and more muscular.

A UNIFORM! This club involves a lot of effort. All you need in the "beer club" is a hand or a straw. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.
