Yesterday's announcement from Apple: New MacBook Pro

Surprised no one has mentioned this yet. So, in summary, the new MacBook Pro will have a touchscreen bar replacing the function keys, include a fingerprint sign in called Touch ID (similar to what's on the iPhone), larger trackpad, 4 thunderbolt ports (get ready to spend a few extra hundred $ for adapters), retina display and of course it's thinner and faster than the previously offered MacBooks. Seems like a cool computer but guess what the best part is? They are the most expensively priced MacBook Pros:

13" MacBook (w/o Touchbar and Touch ID): $1,499

13" MacBook: $1,799

15" MacBook: $2,399

Needless to say, I'll just be checking this one out when I make my spontaneous visits to the Apple store. Cool computer, but rediciulously overpriced for my budget.

No, they haven't cost this much...the new ones are priced much higher than usual.

I love my Macbook Air. I do all my video production on it for YouTube, although at times I used to put stuff through Sony Vegas as well on my Dell laptop.

I'd like a Macbook Pro, but the lack of a card reader port, or a simple fucking USB port or a headphone port - no thanks. The simplification to USB-C or Thunderbolt has only made the dongle world alive and well again. Have you seen the fucking mess people use on their iPhone 7 just to charge and listen to music? Ridiculous. When I bought a new phone a few months ago, I finally made the flip to Apple (I already had an iPad Air 2 and Macbook Air), and went for the SE. It's a 6S phone in a 5S size case, and with the larger 64GB size and Apple Care, I still came in under what the starter price for a 6S or 6S+ was at the lowest capacity with no Apple Care. Luckily, it still has a headphone port on it.

My only struggle on the air is hard drive space of course. I have 256GB, but I could do with at least 512GB. It's not really doable now since I've already owned it. There are expansion cards you can put in for the sole purpose of doubling your harddrive space, but I might explore that later on. Thankfully I have a cloud drive here at home on my network, so I can upload & save any finished videos and projects before moving onto the next one.

Just for the record, I also have an iMac 17" white. I used to use it to host hard drives that held media, but once I got the cloud drive, I didn't need it anymore. I moved most stuff over, and I plugged one of the movie drives right into the back of the cloud drive. Everything shows up on our smart TV, the Fire TV and the Roku.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Hmm, well I got my Macbook Air for free, and my iPad Air 2 for free. So - already ahead of the game.
