In a very simple, strictly physical sense, karma is merely cause and effect – and everything from religious teachings to empirical science suggests this pattern to some degree. So, yes, I believe in it.

Taken on a more metaphysical level, karma gets a lot more complex. I’m not certain whether I believe in it here, but it is extremely personal; takes into account things like intent, motive, options, personal understanding of a situation, type of action and context; and it’s not necessarily to be looked at as a sort of cosmic retribution system. From that standpoint, it’s impractical for anyone to sit around waiting for karma to kick another person’s ass. We could never know exactly why or under what unique personal situation someone did something and, therefore, what their spiritual consequences should be.

Also, from your vantage point, wishing for someone to suffer – even if you think they have it coming – may be setting into place a certain karmic pattern for you. Perhaps you’ll experience the pain you wish on that person. Or perhaps that person actually is experiencing his/her own consequences, but you’ll never get the pleasure of seeing it, because you now don’t deserve that sort of gratification while wishing and waiting for someone to suffer.

μηδὲν ὅλως σὺ λυποῦ
πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶ τὸ ζῆν
τὸ τέλος ὁ χρόνος ἀπαιτεῖ.”

Karma: Effects of past actions, from this or previous lifetimes. The equilibrating law of karma, is that of action and reaction, cause and effect, sowing and reaping.

In the course of natural righteousness, every human being by his thoughts and actions becomes the molder of his own destiny. Whatever energies he himself, wisely or unwisely, has set in motion must return to him as their starting point, like a circle completeing itself.

An understanding of karma as the law of justice serves to free the human mind from resentment against man. A perso's karma follows him from incarnation to incarnation until fulfilled or spiritually transcended.

Yes, I believe in Karma...but don't trip on when the justice will come, because it may not be in your lifetime.. smile

Good points from everyone. Thanks it's helped a lot. I'm taking a few pieces of advice and working on them. A few people brought up the idea that I'm not going to be able to see it take effect anyway (karma) so just focus on the positive things. So ok I'll give it a shot . But like I said before, it's a rough path but I guess it's better than wallowing in negativity right? It's hard coming back from the dark side though...lol jedi

And, of course, if you believe in karma, then by doing this, others will try to look for the good in you in return...even if they feel they can't find it... biggrin
