60 Days In on A&E Anyone watching this on A&E? They just started up a season 2, after season 1 ended a few weeks ago. They filmed it before the first season aired. I've never been in jail, so it sort of freaks me out to think about being locked up like that. It's filmed at the Clark County Jail in Jackson, Indiana. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Yea this show is great. I think it veers toward being staged to a degree but nonetheless it's a fascinating look into life in jail. DeAndre one of the inmates in season 1 said some elements were taken out of context and are for the cameras. I dont doubt the participants do do the 60 days but as viewers we get a distorted view of things. I mean Robert the wacky teacher guy hed have got knocked out or worse and maybe they tipped him off so he put a towel on a camera to get put in solitary. Zack was the only one really who gelled into inmate life and he made friendships with a few of the inmates. The guy with glasses who got punched by Ricky, I dont think he has what takes to be a CO. Unless he toughens up to the nth degree, not because he doesn't work out but he doesnt have the mental toughness. Season 2 has an interesting cast of characters so far I've seen the first episode. It seems the inmates are a bit wilder this time too so I expect things to pop off at any time. I mean the attorney guy's get some unwelcome attention and unless he quits the program it won't end well. But yea 60 days in is well worth checking out and I wonder though if DeAndre or other former inmates tips off those in the jail they are doing this program. Surely word gets through there's more than meets the eye especially when these non criminal looking folks turn up at the jail. It would send alarm bells ringing that they might be snitches or undercover. That's the bit where I kinda second guess everything and think it's staged to a degree. I mean if they are suspicious of anyone they won't ask questions and just fight or worse. For me I think the whole criminal justice system is broken you should really just jail the most violent and dangerous of criminals. Other pettier crimes shouldbe dealt with with fines and community service. It would cut down on the prison populations and those who are dangerous and need rehabilitation can get the help they obviously need. That is a utopian view sure but when somebody is jailed for something minor I just think it puts them in further where they could get hooked on drugs or become involved in more serious crimes on release so it starts a unbroken circle. Just my 2 cents.

I think it's far too dangerous to tell any of those inmates that there are plants. Jail, and prison, is a whole other ball game in dealing with people. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I think I said it a little wrong, I meant DeAndre or whomever could have got a message thru to the inmates in the pod that A&E are doing this show and there's guys and girls keeping tabs on them. I wasn't saying the civilians inmates would tell them all hell would break lose im sure. We are up to episode 2 here, we get it on Crime and Investigation network. Speaking of which, there's another show about rookie COs which is interesting too made by the same folks who make 60 days in. But back to that show yea I noticed Zach's wife is on the show. Both he and she have talked about her drug problem. I think she's doing this as a deterrent so she doesn't fall back into bad habits. On the recap show of Season 1 they had Zach going for CO jobs and apparently he was a cop but because his wife pulled a gun on somebody he got kicked off the force. I think 60 Days In is on tonite or tomorrow so they might show the bits you mention. They definitely need to deal with folks with mental health and or neurological issues much better too. A lot of people need real care and prison is no place for them. Plus some commit crimes as a cry for help. But until they figure this out unfortunately the circle will never be broken.

A few more episodes in and in general they are integrating well with the inmates. The medic setting the guys hand was good but I still think they playing him. Monalisa as adapted the best, she's gaining respect and I wouldn't be surprised if she becomes one of the more dominant members of the Pod. The episode with the guy having a seizure is next week. Terrible he doesn't receive immediate medical attention. This was just like the preview so I imagine seeing the footage is rather harrowing.
