Anyone watching this on A&E? They just started up a season 2, after season 1 ended a few weeks ago. They filmed it before the first season aired. I've never been in jail, so it sort of freaks me out to think about being locked up like that. It's filmed at the Clark County Jail in Jackson, Indiana.

For those that don't know, eight people (men and women) volunteer to go undercover in a jail, to help the sheriff root out how drugs and other contraband are getting in, and what can be done to improve conditions, etc. It's all being filmed under the guise of a documentary. If any of the participants feel they are truly in danger, they have a signal they can send out to alert producers. It could be a phrase, or a motion. One guy's was just putting a rolled up towel around his neck and walking around with it. Another guy's was saying "I could really go for a cup of coffee right now". Those are flags to producers to get them out of there without alerting other inmates and find out what's going on.

If an inmate is interviewed, it's not seen as unusual because of the documentary guise. The only people who know are the participants, and the sheriff himself. Even the regular COs have no idea what is going on with the plants.

Some of the volunteers are wannabe cops, or former military, or maybe their loved one is locked up and they are trying to understand it more. Muhammad Ali's daughter was in there in season 1, under a fake name. (Not the boxer, but another one.) There was one guy, a teacher, who was totally clueless to it and the weight of it. He treated it as a zen vacation, ended up in solitary, and did yoga every day. The first question he asked when he went into the community room on his first day was "How big is this TV? Do you guys get NFL on it?" He never took it seriously. When they were going to move him out of solitary, he suddenly got a stomach cramp, couldn't poop, and was discharged from the program. Even in the end, in the after interviews and wrap up shows, he was a fucking moron.

It's an interesting show overall. I'm very anti-establishment and anti-cop, so this sort of thing fascinates me and angers me a bit. But the drama of it is what is captivating.

I think it's far too dangerous to tell any of those inmates that there are plants. Jail, and prison, is a whole other ball game in dealing with people.

Zach's wife is on the show this season. She's a former model, and a former addict. The girls doing drugs upstairs every night is proving to be a major temptation for her. But so far, so good.

And yeah, the other guy who wanted to be a CO is never going to be able to do that.

This season is rather...rough. There's a former cop in there (he looks like TD Jakes). His thoughts on situations in there are spot on. One inmate passed out and had a seizure. Two young ass COs, who weren't even 25 yet, waltz in and don't even touch the guy. There were two other inmates attempting to care for him, but they had no clue what they were doing. The guy could have just up & died, and Beavis & Butt-head would've had their thumbs up their butts the whole time.

I wasn't saying the civilians inmates would tell them all hell would break lose im sure. We are up to episode 2 here, we get it on Crime and Investigation network. Speaking of which, there's another show about rookie COs which is interesting too made by the same folks who make 60 days in. But back to that show yea I noticed Zach's wife is on the show. Both he and she have talked about her drug problem. I think she's doing this as a deterrent so she doesn't fall back into bad habits. On the recap show of Season 1 they had Zach going for CO jobs and apparently he was a cop but because his wife pulled a gun on somebody he got kicked off the force. I think 60 Days In is on tonite or tomorrow so they might show the bits you mention. They definitely need to deal with folks with mental health and or neurological issues much better too. A lot of people need real care and prison is no place for them. Plus some commit crimes as a cry for help. But until they figure this out unfortunately the circle will never be broken.
