I've heard men say this to women and hell even to me. What does this mean? I find it insulting to women and I think the men who say this can't handle the emotional side of women and maybe a little immature emotionally themselves.

I really prefer women to act like women... I don't want them trying to punch me in the face or anything.

Well they can't say "Stop acting like a man!" can they ?

The biggest insult in Australia to say to a man is "stop acting like a girl" or to just flat out call him a "girl".

I can slightly imagine what is meant when a guy says: "stop acting like a woman!" to a girl. And it has nothing to do if a guy is emotionally immature or not.

I've overheard MANY men say this. I don't think it needs to be a male bashing thread just because a question is asked about a certain issue.

I just find it interesting that acting like a woman can be viewed as negative and not just apart of normal behavior. I am a woman so shouldn't I behave as such.

I believe some men (and even some women) have problems with dealing with someone elses emotions.

I think thats where this statement stems from but I'm asking for input.
