And YES! Bye bye TWICE convicted drug cheat Justin Gatling. Didn't even make the 200m final! Shit, even one of our guys, who has little to no chance, effectively beat him (in another heat). His arrogence on the final stretch sums up that scumbag. Arrogent aswell as a cheat. Like Bolt, he thought he could look around to see his competitors. Wrong. Iam rarely this callous to anyone, but good riddance.

I think people do make mistakes and deserve chances to redeem themselves. I have no qualm with Gatlin competing again, however, his age is more than likely why he didn't qualify for the 200m. He wasn't arrogant at all by looking over before he crossed the finish line, I took his glance as a bit of insecurity. He did slow up right before he glanced over, so apparently something wasn't right and he knew there was a chance he wasn't going to make it. I'm a fan of Bolt though and absolutely love seeing him competing.

Lochte is and has always been a buffoon. He made up this story to cover up something sordid, like a night with hookers.

It was just reported there is video footage of Lodhte on the night of the "robbery". He is completely wasted, gets in an argument with a gas station attendant, and tears a door off its hinges. Lord knows why.

To us, this is stupid. To those in power in Rio and in the Olympics, they are PISSED. Rio is very sensitive to this kind of stuff, because all we heard for the last two years was how crappy Rio is. The last thing they want is Olympic athletes getting robbed. The next-to-last thing they want is Olympic athletes lying about getting robbed. They are mightily pissed.

This is just completely ridiculous. It may cost Lochte some endorsements. Jeez, what a cluster-f***.

RIO DE JANEIRO - A Brazilian police official is telling The Associated Press that American swimmer Ryan Lochte fabricated a story about being robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janeiro.

The official, who has direct knowledge of the investigation, spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about an ongoing probe.

He said that around 6 a.m. on Sunday, Lochte, along with fellow swimmers Jack Conger, Gunnar Bentz and Jimmy Feigen, stopped at a gas station in Barra da Tijuca, a suburb of Rio where many Olympic venues are located. One of the swimmers tried to open the door of an outside bathroom. It was locked.

A few of the swimmers then pushed on the door and broke it. A security guard appeared and confronted them, the official said.

The official says the guard was armed with a pistol, but he never took it out or pointed it at the swimmers.

According to the official, the gas station manager then arrived. Using a customer to translate, the manager asked the swimmers to pay for the broken door. After a discussion, they did pay him an unknown amount of money and then left.

The official says that swimmers Conger and Bentz, who were pulled off a plane going back to the United States late Wednesday, told police that the robbery story had been fabricated.

A police news conference was scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

I love all of the events, and I love the swimmers when they swim the butterfly and breaststroke as well, as the track and field and gymnastics.

Yuuuuuup and its all on tape.....it was shown on CNN, there was no robbery just a bunch of drunk swimmers acting like hoons.

Well, with the USA Men's NBA Basketball team easily defeating Serbia to win the final gold medal of these Olympics, another Olympics has come to an end. We absolutely annihilated every other country on the medal stand, yet most Americans. instead of bragging with their chest pumped out, have more or less shrugged this off. I think all of the frightening stories about Rio coming into these games didn't help, and the whole Ryan Lochte episode was an embarrassment to Americans everywhere. And on top of that, it appears these will be one of the lowest rated Olympics in quite some time.

I've heard so many complaints about how NBC shows way too many commercials, and too many human interest puff pieces about certain athletes competing at the games (e.g., "Peter Miterwald, USA's sole African American pole vaulter, whose parents died in a car accident at age 3 and was literally raised by wolves, nevertheless overcame racial discrimination, poverty, and bear attacks to make it to the games..."), but for the most part most of the events were televised live. Obviously, some events could have been covered more, like the "field" part of the track and field events, but I'm sure NBC has tested and focus-grouped what events Americans want to see on the broadcast network (swimming, women's gymnastics, beach volleyball, track and field) and which ones are better off on cable or streaming (fencing, badminton, dressage, field hockey, archery). All I've heard is hopw NBC sucks at this, yet would any of the coverage be noticeably different if CBS, Fox, or ESPN been covering these games?
