This so annoys me - the assumption that vegetarians miss meat so much that they want to eat stuff that smells, looks and tastes exactly like dead flesh (otherwise known as meat). I've stopped eating Quorn products as their packaging clearly says 'Chicken Nuggets' when they contain no chicken at all (the same applies to many of their other products, for example Gammon Steaks).

Consider this quote from the article:

'But most importantly, this potato protein and coconut oil-based burger patty tastes like blood, which means that people want to eat it, myself included'

Trust me - I (and many other veggies) have absolutely ZERO interest in eating anything that tastes like blood. This doesn't excite me, it disgusts me.

HOWEVER - if meat eaters are choosing to eat this type of product over actual dead carcuss then hats off to them. I'm all for people eating less meat and more plants. It's just not for me in any way, shape or form.

Given that meat these days don't taste like meat, that may not be a major feat for veggies.

I tried some of Linda McCartney's line of veggie products. It was pretty good including burgers and sausages http://www.lindamccartneyfoods.co.uk/ which you can get in Woolworth here in oz.

Double They used to sell Linda McCartney frozen food products at my local supermarkets and then they disappeared. Didn't know there were still food products made with her name. Ditto for Woolworth's in Australia! I worked at one in the U.S. many years ago...and then when the chain finally went out of business here, I thought that was it everywhere.

In England Linda McCartney products can be found in all major supermarkets. They have quite a big range. Personally I don't like them but they are very popular. Sadly, Woolworths has gone bust over here as well.

Bullshit. All meat eaters pull the 'you need the protein from meat' line, it draws attention away from the need to deal with the fact you won't give it up because you like it too much. Fact is, we all need a balanced diet and a balanced diet is what is good for the body. That does NOT have to include having to consume the bodies of dead animals.

I have had a few that were pretty good. if it was sold for the same price i might try one. i notice most of the time the vegie burgers cost more...so pass. But cool.

I love a good Garden Burger, especially on the grill, but why do they have to be so doggone expensive these days...
