Johnny Depp

Good lookin' dude. Great, and I mean great actor. But, has this mutherfucker lost his mind?
Check out the accents. The first video is pre-movie star:

The second video is current movie star (and his teefus ain't lookin' so great either):

Is this the result of losing "Johnny Depp" in all those characters he plays so well?

I'd say it's partly down to him being lost in all those weird Jack Sparrow type roles he's had for the past 15 years. But hasn't he also lived in a few different places over the years? Maybe he's picked up some weird hybrid accent from the different places he's lived?

I really like Johnny Depp. He can be an incredible actor but ever since the first Pirates film, his choices have been terrible. Its clear he does it for the money. Willy Wonka, Mad Hatter, the pirates sequels and whatever dark shadows was supposed to be have tainted his reputation as an actor. I'd love to see him in a Scorsese or Spielberg movie. Something to get him out of the "wacky" roles he's found himself typecast in.

I agree. He's played so many of those idiosyncratic roles that homeboy is lost; this is probably what
happens to a lot of actors who are so good, that the brain starts adopting new mannerisms, etc. Like,
the brain doesn't say: "Hey! I'm only acting here! This ain't real!" The brain probably says: "What?
we're speaking with an English accent tinged with a Scottish accent now for six months while shooting
this movie? Okay!" and after so many years of doing this . . .

He did all right in Donnie Brasco. He's amazing as Whitey Bulger in Black Mass. The dude can act his
arse off. But he's so affected, it's troubling!

Oh Johnny sad maybe he is going through a phase.......been a fan since Platoon (1986) and 21 Jump Street. Given good material he still is one of the best actors of his generation, and he was great in Black Mass (2015). So I still believe nod

Yep, I agree. He's lost his mojo. Those pirate movies are the worst shite ever. Haven't liked any of his movies in many years. He's become a bit of a joke IMO.

I don't think he's lost his mojo at all. He's an excellent actor. His mannerisms in Black Mass were
really amazing: I kept rewinding certain scenes like this one, where he's a beast:

. . . that mutherfucker nailed this scene. I like what Emma said: he's too much into those quirky roles
and because he's so talented as an , his brain don't know who the hell the "real" Johnny Depp is any-
anymore, the poor bastard.

I just saw this on TV last night. lol Biting self-irony from Steven King about his excessive drinking days and getting lost in his characters... I had the feeling that Johnny Depp was channeling bits and pieces of his own life experience for his movie role...

I love Johnny, always have. I think he's a brilliant actor. I'm a huge Disney person, but even I'm tired of the POTC series. They really should have stopped at 'At World's End'. I'm more concerned about his look than anything else lol

I'm more concerned about his health at this point.

I love the first Pirates film. The sequels ruined it, I felt. The last one was decent but still kind of boring. It was one of those movies that should never have had a sequel. Like The Matrix. Though I can't necessarily fault him for doing the sequels. They paid him an awful lot of money but I wish he was a bit more selective with his roles. He's a brilliant actor who'll be remembered for the likes of willy wonka and the mad hatter and that's a shame.

I still have't seen Johnny in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, but the PBS musical was creepy as hell. I bet that's one scarey movie.

I haven't either. His movies in the past 5-10 years haven't been that impressive, however, I don't think he's lost his excellent acting ability. It's just that his role choices haven't been that great. I did see "Black Mass" and it turned out to be a totally different movie than expected. Don't get me wrong, I knew it was about a real life Irish gangster, but perhaps I'm used to the Scorcese style of directing when it comes to organized crime movies. lol Also, I feel that Johnny's make up for the movie was a bit over the top. He really looked like a warewolf moreso than an aging gangster but nonetheless, in any role he has, he definitely brings 110%. My favorite Depp movies are:

What's Eating Gilbert Grape?

Donnie Brasco

Edward Scissorhands

Blow

The Secret Window

Chocolat (he was drooling hott in this movie too drool)

From Hell

Public Enemies

Transcedence

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

It's so good. There was one scene where he was about to strike his victim and I caught myself smiling.

6. Sweeney Todd (2007)

7. Sleepy Hollows (1999)

My own personal favourite Depp film is Ed Wood. I'd also include Once Upon a Time in Mexico in there too. Not many people know of that movie but it's the third part of the Mariachi trilogy, El Mariachi being the first and Desperado being the second. He wasn't the lead but he was very good.
