It is a site that I have set up to sell various products... these products will be related to serial murderers, crime and the media. The media makes killers into stars...

I am working on the designs as we speak.

If you can find an otter that was a serial killer, I will gladly immortalize him with his very own t-shirt, mug, jersey or whatever.

Hmm I'll have to investigate that...

So when is your site going live Ice?

I was gonna support Teller and buy one of his bits of merchandise but it all looks a bit cheap and nasty (sorry Teller!)

Goodness...by all means, I'm listening. What made it seem cheap and nasty?

Oh I've no intelligent or well thought out criticism, it was just my impression (not of the site, but of the t-shirts and stuff). I might get a mug though! I think I was just peeved coz my favourite Skeleton cards weren't available on merchandise sad

Wow...

Don't feel bad--my feelings aren't hurt. We're talking customer impressions here and I've obviously done somethign wrong because my sales suck. TELL ME MORE?

Someone suggested I lose the "Trading Cards!" frame and just go with the images for the products (like the cups do). ...?

Well, shit...

Maybe I should have done this long ago...I had the "Trading Cards" thing going on the cups for awhile but eventually went with just a larger version of the cartoon...maybe it must be so with shirts...maybe "Trading Cards!" is just a gimmick for the site...

Okay seriously, let's see what we got here...

Product Information:

Our 11oz ceramic mug will keep your favorite beverage hot. Large handle for easy grasping. Dishwasher and microwave safe. Printing is full of color and detail. Guaranteed.

Hmmm... 11oz, that seems like a lot. confused But I love me some ceramic! "Large handle," eh? ..."for easy grasping" ... I don't know...I'm more of a grabber than a grasper, but I can adapt! Dishwasher and microwave safe! yay! Excellent! I'm sold!

I am going to buy one of those! (No April Fools joke!)

Hmm here's some ideas of the top of my head:

  • I like the trading cards, if I could actually get trading cards! That'd be cool. Gotta catch em all, like Pokémon.
  • Unfortunately the trading cards, when printed onto a T shirt or a mug, look a bit like one you could just do yourself with a laser printer. The rectangular frame doesn't help... I guess what I'd prefer is a Skelecosm t-shirt that was designed as a t-shirt, rather than a trading card printed on a t-shirt.
  • Same goes for the mugs. Put something more muggy on the mugs, instead of a pic of a trading card. Maybe a skelly having a nice cup o cha.
  • Give the skeletons more personality. Some of the jokes and stuff I really don't get, but if the skeleton was more of a "character" in his own right, it'd be more interesting to see him in all the situations you create for him in your trading cards. I'd have a skeleton on the front page introducing your site, like a TV presenter or something. I'd have skeleton adventures (flash animations, or comics, or just jokes) to give the skelly a bit of life (bad choice of words) and make the whole experience more inviting. Trading cards are collectibles, so when I think of them I think of some well cared for, prestigious collection... a nice book to put them in. You could use such themes as a basis for the design of the site. Your trading card pages could actually be like a sticker book.
  • Rather than just putting skeletons in weird situations, it'd be interesting to play with the theme a bit... Cubist Skeleton, Atari VCS Skeleton etc smile

Wow...ok, thank you for being honest! smile

I think I will get rid of the "Trading Cards" business on the products, and think about giving him more of a life on the site proper...
