Around the holliday season some people watch The Sound of Music, while others watched Its a Wonderful life....but my go to film was a classic from the 80s The Last Dragon (1985) and this year for my B'day I finally got it on Blu-Ray In a nuttshell its about a young man who searches for the "master" to obtain the final level of martial arts mastery known as The Glow. Along the way, he fights an evil martial arts expert named Sho'nuff (the Shogun of Harlem) and rescue a beautiful VJ Laura Charles from an obsessed music promoter Eddie Arkadian. I know it was made on a low budget, it was cheesy and most of the peformances are over the top, but it was a memorable film because it had alot of great one liners, a cool soundtrack, a hot leading man in Taimak and it had Vanity in it and finally a great message that we all have the glow within. I have lost count how many times I've seen this fiilm and out of 5 it give it 5 Its a guilty pleasure and I highly recommend it.

Thanks it was better than the BAD doco, but some of the celebs interviewed were dodgy eg. John Legend . The live footage was freakin amazing (note to the estate please release all the Jackson's concerts on dvd/blu-ray!!!!!!) and it was nice to see a doco put the emphasis back on MJ music and not the caricature the tabloids and certain parts of the media are so hell bent onto this misunderstood, flawed genius. I actually enjoyed this myself. I was excited to see Vanity in a starring role (since she left Prince & Purple Rain movie) i really thought she was good..funny, sweet and i thought the girl could actually act..i will even go as far as saying i enjoyed her acting way more than her singing...... except Nasty Girl of course..she owned that shit

Lifeboat (Alfred Hitchcock/John Steinbeck, 1944) Our worst fears and prejudices grasp at what little remains adrift in the lonely echo of the awesome Atlantic after a German torpedo discloses its point of departure. Here for the duration humanity is wrestled amongst the tight quarters of class, sex, and race. The horror ebbing and flowing aimlessly preordained with the bellow of an agreed-upon resolve that intermittently lifts the sail. This ensemble cast — almost as captivating in its participated claustrophobia as the collective sweat of "12 Angry Men" — perhaps finds a way (you be the judge) through to the sinking of that which separates us from each other. No pull-away gloss of happily-ever-after. No "wow" moment of freeze-frame reflection. And certainly no fish-out-of-water dialogue to shake loose this our precious cargo. The ending is philosophically abrupt. Perhaps our divine will (or whatever you choose to name it) is far too often squandered until after the waves take their final exhalations. 4.5 out of 5

Last night I attended a Prince event called "Pancakes and a Movie". It was awesome! We ate great pancakes and omelets, watched some Prince videos, and then viewed "Under the Cherry Moon". Guess what?

Last night I watched The Martian (2015). It's about an astronaut who becomes stranded on Mars after his team assume him dead after a freak storm, and he has to find a way to send a signal to Earth to let them know he is alive and needs saving. It was a feel good castaway fantasy film, had a cool soundtrack and I liked it, but it dragged on a bit.....and I noticed that this was the second space related film that Jessica Chastain has been in the other being Interseller (2014). Out of the space survival themed films of recent years, I preferred Gravity (2013), because of the intense special effects and that fact it was only 1 hr and 30 mins. Out of 5 I give The Martian 4 Gravity gets a 4.5 and Intersteller gets a 3.5 because of its Contact (1997) like vibe which I found annoying (really its all about your dad seriously ) 2.5 [Edited 7/24/16 18:59pm] Keep Calm & Listen To Prince

Another film with Jessica Chastain in it I liked it, it was beautifully shot and the performances were really good, especially Brad Pitt. Out of all the Terrence Malick films it is in my top five, I give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 . The other films I liked are;
1. Days of Heaven (1978) 5 out 5, and that music score is to die for. 2. Badlands (1973) 4.5, it stays with u, and Martin Sheen does remind me of James Dean . 3. The Thin Red Line (1998) 4 a more philosophical view of war,. 4. Tree of Life (2011) see above 5. The New World (2005) 3 out of 5, a more realistic re-telling of Pocahontas . Tom Cruise was brilliant though. I think people are a bit hard on Batman v Superman. The "Martha" scene seems to be the main focus of the criticisms but aside from it being a little heavy handed, I thought it made sense. Batman no longer sees Superman as this potentially dangerous alien, and instead sees some humanity in him. It is a bit strange that Superman suddenly begins calling his mother by her name, but like I said, it's not perfect. Ben Affleck is my favourite live action Batman though. That Batmobile chase and the fight scene against Lex's hired goons are two of the best moments in any superhero movie.

I saw it a while back, I agree Tom Cruise was amazing and IMO should have gotten the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor that year. However, I couldn't understand the meaning behind the raining of frogs scene, does anyone know? Keep Calm & Listen To Prince

Saw Bad Moms last night. Mila & Christina were excellent, they've really developed into great actressess. First half of the movie was hilarious, the ending seemed anticlimactic though. I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars. "Never let nasty stalkers disrespect you. They start shit, you finish it. Go down to their level, that's the only way they'll understand. You have to handle things yourself."

However, I couldn't understand the meaning behind the raining of frogs scene, does anyone know? I think (17-year-old memory) it connects the huge disparate ensemble of stories that have all reached their climax of grief, depression, and depravity, and wraps them all up (and the audience) in a type of otherworldly bizarreness that acts as a shared disbelief for us all. It's a biblical plague promised by God in the bible (Exodus 8:2, referenced throughout the film) that felt to me at the time an almost optimistic relief valve. Just at that moment everyone is about to burst, suddenly so do the heavens. It felt oddly joyous to me. Like no matter how awful things get for us in this experience, it can get even worse—or in some strange way, experiencing the power of something far greater than self (God/Nature) can perhaps bring about some level of relief, or at least respite.

Last night I watched the new Jason Bourne (2016) film, what can I say? I give it a 4 out of 5 it had everything u expect in this franchise, lots of action, great locations and Matt Damon who must say looks pretty amazing without his shirt on yes I'm not afraid to say I like beefcake. If are gonna do an action film, training for six months and only eating protein to buff up your muscles etc I want shirtless action.....even if u are in fight like Matt does so well in this film, u will know what I mean when u watch the film. In a nutshell its about Jason being is drawn out of hiding after 10 years, to uncover hidden truths about his past. However, little does he know that the CIA have also activated "Operation Ironhand", the successor to Operations Treadstone and Blackbriar, in an attempt to hunt him down and bring him back into their clutches. The rest of the cast is pretty solid, however Tommy Lee Jones is still playing a Tommy Lee Jones type of character in this film So if u like the previous Bourne films like I did, you will enjoy this....and I plan to get this on blu-ray to add to my Bourne collection. Is this the best one in the series?......no, my fav are as follows ;
1. The Bourne Identity (2002) 5 out 5 2.The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) 4.5 out of 5 3. Jason Bourne (2016) 4 out of 5 4.The Bourne Supremacy (2004) 4 out of 5 5.The Bourne Legacy (2012) 2.5 my least fav of the series, Jeremy tried but I found his character boring, and I couldn't get into the film and didn't care whether he lived or died. I've read that they are gonna make the next one with Jeremy for 2018 and I that this time around his character isn't so bland and predictable.
