Steven Spielberg has reassured fans that Harrison Ford will not be killed off in the new Indiana Jones movie.

Disney confirmed in March that Ford will be returning for a fifth outing as Indy, setting a release date of July 19, 2019. Though Chris Pratt has been linked to the franchise, producer Frank Marshall recently said that no one but Ford will be p...title role.

"Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” Disney chairman Alan Horn said in March. "It's rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven."

Now, speaking about the sequel with The Hollywood Reporter, Spielberg, who is returning as director, said: "The one thing I will tell you is I'm not killing off Harrison [Ford] at the end of it."

Fellow Indiana Jones franchise veterans Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy, who is now president of Lucasfilm, are returning as producers alongside Spielberg. Disney bought Lucasfilm in a $4bn deal in 2012, acquiring the rights to Star Wars and Indiana Jones in the process.

Indy’s last outing was 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, released almost two decades on from previous instalment Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Isn't he (Ford) getting a little too old for this?

Harrison Ford is best remembered for his roles in Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Blade Runner. And starting with the Force Awakens, he's reprising all those roles in new sequels. There are two ways you can look at that. On the one hand, it's good that older actors still have good roles available. On the other hand, Hollywood has officially run out of ideas...

But I'm not complaining. I love Harrison Ford.

I first saw this thread early this morning and I thought it said "Steven Seagal promises not to kill off Harrison Ford in new 'Indiana Jones' movie".

Segal vs. Ford? I'd go see that movie!

LOL. All Seagal does is snap people's wrists in his movies. Next time you watch a Seagal movie, count the amount of broken wrists.

Seagal is a self-absorbed prick. Bad actor, cop apologist, and all around knucklehead. Indy's gotten out of bigger situations with better people than any character Seagal played.

By the way, while Spielberg's comments are probably tongue in cheek, it would sort of end any changes of any further Indy movies if he did die.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

How about Indiana Jones and The Crystal Ball? Digging deep inside the Vault to find The Grand Progression and fighting The Banished Ones sent by Spooky Electric?

Note to Spielberg:

1) Please, no CGI this time around.

2) Snakes are fine, but they should not be miscast as ropes

3) No cute furry animals

4) Remember, when someone is caught up in the middle of a nuclear explosion that same someone vapourises to death, fridge or no fridge.

5) Aliens arent Indy's forte, lets get back to biblical/mystical archeology in caves and underground tombs and shit.
