What is best way to kill huge lawn so I dont have to mow it? I have a house in another state that I just cant maintain regularly and I have no one I trust to do it. I want to level the lawn so it doesnt grow. It is 0.25 acre. I know about ROundup and herbicide but the area is way too big for that. The snakes have practically taken over because the grass get knee high before I can get there to do anything about it and I am terrified of snakes. After having the best yard in the neighborhood, my place is now the scourge and my neighbors are not happy with me anymore. Save America - Stop Illegal Immigration. God bless America. PEACE | |

A quarter acre should be pretty easy to walk down with a spreader or pump sprayer. I would not spread Round Up or the like, but there are other less toxic alternatives. Probably. Try vinegar. Then get back to me and let me know how that worked on a broader area because so far I just use it for stuff like sidewalk cracks. I bet calling a landscaper or other relevant business in the area would probably be more helpful since they will be more familiar with the local flora and what might be the most effective means for permanent removal. Like getting rid of pampas grass for good would be a whole different ordeal than getting rid of... just about anything else. Murica: at least it's not Sudan. | |

Get rid of the pet?
Train the dog to a puppy pad outside.
I don't know if Funkyness neighbors maynot appreciate mulch, wood chips, rocks or barren dead lawn either.

You can kill all the grass with Roundup, but weeds will eventually start to sprout if you don't cover the area with something like mulch or landscaping fabric to block out the weeds. I'd suggest you kill the grass first with Roundup or other agent. After everything is dead, dig it up or scrape it, whatever to get it down to bare dirt. Cover the dirt surface with landscape fabric, the thickest you can afford, and then top that with mulch. The fabric will keep weeds from sprouting through the mulch. | |
