Over here it's called Shinty, and I've known a few guys who regret not wearing a helmet. Or, more so, their families do. My Dad was good at it, won loads of medals. Me? Sissy all over, used to hate it when we were forced into it at school, spent half the time with my back to the ball! Looks like it's dying as a sport though. | |

Ah it's not dying... we take it very seriously in Ireland! As regards the helmet... a friend of mine once got hit with a sliotar (the name of the ball - a rock wrapped in hard leather basically haha) right between the eyes... he never was quite right after that. Anyway if any of you ever have a chance either in Ireland or Scotland you should go watch a hurling match, very entertaining | |
