Really? Like, Prince's own father and mother couldn't be up there taking care of him? Ali's
in heaven looking to care for Prince? Wouldn't it make more sense for Ali to pass away first
so that he's in Paradise waiting to welcome Prince in as well? Ali taking care of Prince means
that Prince went five or six weeks waiting alone in heaven for Ali to take care of him. That
just really sucks, if you ask me. In the picture, it struck me as Ali petting Prince like he was
some sort of zoo animal on account of Prince's perm, especially since Prince looks like a minty

chocolate chip member of Robin Hood's merry men.

People say the weirdest things when celebrities die. Now, if Iso said that Prince and Ali are
in heaven, bathing and now resting in the comforting glory of God and finally at peace and in
no pain, then I'd be touched!

It is a nice thought, however. Strange, but nice.

[Edited 6/5/16 18:21pm]

please have some respect that Muhammad Dali passed away...i am too young to know him at all but lets enjoy the fact that Prince was nice enough to meet him..you can really see how nervous Dali was around Prince and i think thats something special and very nice of Prince to do

Considering that they didn't take care of him when he was alive, no. And obviously Prince didn't mind being "pet" considering the huge grin on his face. And Prince's suit was fly. And no, actually, it doesn't mean that Prince was alone, waiting for Ali to take care of him. Who said or even implied that? I was sharing my thoughts and feelings on Ali's death in relation to Prince. Besides, whoever said that death makes sense. Wouldn't it have made sense for Amir to outlive his father instead of dying a week after he was born? Instead, according to various spiritual mediums (which I admit, you do have to take with a grain of salt) his son was waiting for him. Why are you hating so hard?

I didn't ask you. I have no idea why you would even think it's something worthy of debating? hmm

I don't have to be asked a question directly in order to ask a question on my own. I thought it
was a strange thing to say by someone trying too hard to be sentimental even though I understood
the drive for saying it. If I told you what the drive was, I'd start a holy war in this thread so I'll
just keep it to myself.

I don't care if you're touched or not. I didn't post to garner your approval. And I take complete offense at you saying i'm "trying to hard to be sentimental." You don't know me. You don't know how difficult the past few weeks have been for me. I know what I felt when I saw that photo. If you don't feel it, that's fine. If you want to believe that Prince and Ali are "painlessly bathing in the glory of God" (a God I don't even believe in) Go ahead. Just don't jump up and start criticizing and throwing shade because my post didn't move your feelings. Your condescending and sanctimonious attitude is insulting and unnecessary.

I'm proud to say, Cassius Clay later known as Muhammad Ali was from the block, my hometown Louisville Ky.

Before the mantra Black is Beautiful, before the student movement against The Vietnam War there was Clay / Ali. Bold, boisterous, and courageous Muhammad Ali always told you what he stood for, what he didn't stand for, and what he wouldn't accept. Baseball was always deemed "The Great American Pastime", but boxing was a very close second.

Ali was born in 1942 as late as 1947 the NAACP was lobbying the President of The United States to pass an anti-lynching bill. In 1960 Black people couldn't eat or order food inside White Castle... you had to call your order in and your food would be handed to you via the back door. What made Clay / Ali stand out, Ali refused to allow white people to treat him or put him through their twisted evil racist hazing to be tolerated. Jesse Owens, Joe Louise, and Jack Robinson all were told they had to submit to racist degradation to be seen as... the expection to the rule "[N word - luv4u]".

There's been a lot of been written about Muhammad Ali refusing to take the oath, the pledge to be drafted into the United States Army. What is always left off of the news reel...

When Ali exited the Army installation in Texas, Ali explained why he refused to take the oath: Ali sited his religious belief and he said, ' He could not and would not kill another man....a man of color who hadn't done anything to him, just because he county told him to. The United States of America, Muhammad Ali refusing to take the oath in Texas... Black's who were still disenfranchised.

Those were bold words, dangerous words for anyone say... let alone a Black man. The wheels and the usually suspects (as they had done to Jack Johnson) went about threatening Ali with jail, stripped him of making a living, his livelihood as a boxer. Yet, Ali never blinked and he never wavered. It shouldn't be forgotten that he and Don King took control of boxing away from the mafia! Muhammad Ali was a bad man... Rest In Peace.

Only thing I'm mad about is that Prince photo. Of all the ones all over the internets, they pick one that looks almost nothing like him. Come on people, do better.

Great post....it's a shame many of today's black athletes haven't followed the example set forth by Ali, Jim Brown, Bill Russell, etc. When have Derek Jeter, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods taken a stand on anything? They're more interested in protecting their brand.

First of all his name is Muhammad Ali - one of the greatest American athlete/icons of all time. It was Prince that was a long-time admirerer of Ali's. Ali suffered from Parkinson's Disease - he was not nervous.

“My friend Londell McMillian called me a couple of days ago, and he said, Muhammad wants you to… and I said ‘Yes’. I didn’t even let him finish. He could have said, ‘mow the lawn,’ and I would have been down with it. Muhammad’s my hero. He has been since I was a child. As you can see, he’s such an inspiration to many people.” - Prince

The Greatest funeral was very moving, political and powerful, everything I expected it to be....Some, maybe most Black Homegoing services are long...The longest one I attended was my late coworker's service. It was 3hrs and some change. Keep in mind he was the Minister of music and he knew a MILLION Pastors, so every Pastor across the water had to come and Preach and his sister is a member of Gospel Great John P. Kee's choir, so the choir came and turned the church OUT...Sanging Black folks will SNATCH your Soul out your Body....LOL...It was long but it was also Beautiful & moving...Black folks send you home in style...
