DOES IT FEEL LIKE THE WORLD IS ENDING!?!?! Can I rant for a second??? Does anyone else feel like the world is just getting to that point where it's almost time for the revelation - the judgement day? Everything just seems horrible. Socialism is rising, small/private businesses are losing their rights, every state issue is suddenly a federal issue and the ruling is forever the law of the land no matter how lame, the culture is pushing more and more toward intrusiveness both in terms of government and socially - everybody thinks they've gotta be involved in everyone's business for their "wellbeing", everybody wants to be looked after and have decisions made for them, autonomy is under attack - people act like there's something wrong with independence, people hate success - they act like it's a sin to be successful and you owe them something for your success or you're "an evil ____ person", people think the middle class is rich, the middle class think they're poor, people want cultural and legal homogeniety across the states and push it under the guise of "social justice", this has got to be the most culturally lame period in history - the millenials have produced no icons of any sort, most know no music but the manufactured pop music they think they like, so many people believe music and the arts in general should be free, nobody has a backbone - everybody's feelings are hurt about everything, students on campuses call dissenting opinions "violence" and will do violence unto you to shut you up, the sun is duller than it used to be. They just keep expanding and expanding government and begging it to make all their life decisions and silence however doesn't like it, they don't want to be accountable for anything, and they're hurt by words. Everybody wants to be safe and babied, but I just wanna be free. But, it seems like this generation is doing everything in it's power to make that impossible and wants to punish the people who want that. I just want to live in the America the generations before did and I resent that I was born just in time to never experience it, yet witness it being killed and pine for what I can never have. There are people and movements who keep trying to save it, but we're silenced and ignored every time. It's getting so much harder to find beauty in the world, getting harder to find motivation, and getting harder to find joy in anything.
It's so depressing.

Generation XYZ are just screwed. I couldn't put my finger on it until I heard something NdGT say, then I remembered. I came up at the tailend of the "hope for the future" generation, everything was designed and talked about in the mindset that the future was bright and the possibilities were endless. This was the mindset of the WW II generation, the whole let's pick up the pieces and push forward thinking. All under the threat of the Cold War there was still the spirit of the light at the end of the tunnel. And then that mindset all crumbled, everything now is apocalypse this , destruction that, everything is about the complete utter destruction of civilzation as we know it. It's creating a spotlight effect, where we only focus on the screwed up stuff because we're terrified of things not workng out as we planned them.

It feels like everyone who wants to be free is just gradually getting strangled to death by the SJWs and intrusive federal law. When America is ruined there will be no place for us. We have to take an aggressive stand and stop trying to take the high ground - it'll only get you killed by those who play dirty.

GirlBrother said: AnonymousFan said: Socialism is rising Good. No. Not good. Socialism requires a large and intrusive federal government with little regard for personal economic freedom and in this current climate social freedom. Socialism perpetuates the idea that everybody's got to be in everybody's business and that no one's truly responsible for themselves. Sure that's a fine system for people that don't want to be wholly responsible for themselves and people who don't mind taking care of other people. But people who want to take care of themselves, be responsible for and control everything they earn, and don't want to drag somebody else's ass for the sake of it it's really not the greatest. Charity and pity should be a choice not forced and Robinhood'd. No one is entitled to someone else's money or possessions unless a contract was voluntarily signed stating such.

There is nothing to enjoy in this moment. Only death and mediocrity and it doesn't seem to be anything to look foward to. Maybe there was something to enjoy back then, maybe you had something to look forward to in your days. All I can do is look to the past. [Edited 6/4/16 19:56pm]

In all seriousness. If you really think the world is that bad from what you've written then maybe you should seek out some professional help. Things really aren't so bad but it seems like you've lost sight of the good right now. You talk about 'students on campus' - doesn't it say something that you live in a country lucky enough to be able to access this sort of education and produce individuals with views and ideas, even if they are not what you believe? You say there is no freedom, yet you are able to make career choices and start work at a reasonable age, you are not put to work at age 5, illiterate and barely able to undertake the jobs expected of you. It is natural to believe that the previous generation had it better but did they? Sure as hell not if you were homosexual or transgender or if the colour of your skin was different to others. As for no cultural icons, let's wait and see. Time produces icons and there are many, many great young bands and sporting heroes just making their name in the world. If you are healthy, have enough food and water, have a roof over your head and are educated then you really have nothing to worry about. Make your life the one you want it to be without getting dragged down by the views of others. Maybe help others too, become more socialist, you'll feel better for it (capitalism has its advantages but I believe we have a duty to help those less fortunate than ourselves. Many rich, and less fortunate people give a huge amount to charity to try to make the world a better place). I don't know anything about you as a person but maybe help those less fortunate than yourself, you'll realise how good life is. If you are healthy, embrace it, so many are not right now.
