I've witnessed two pitbull attacks and in both cases the owners said that their dogs, usually non-aggressive, had never acted like that before. The problem is with the breeding of these dogs. Their unpredictability does not make them desirable as pets, especially around children.

I can't understand how there have been so many reports about pitbulls attacking and killing children, and parents will still continue to have pitbulls around their children. eek

What about Rottweilers? They have a stronger bite than Pit Bulls, and can be aggressive.

All I know is they can be some of the goofiest dogs you ever want to meet. Seems it's all about what the owner's intentions are with the dog.

I remember when Dobermans were all the rage.

Mine was beautiful, wonderful and nice as pie. Blue brindle...awesome dog with a great temperament. I kept him leashed and didn't send him to play with kids, but he woulda done nothing but licked em. If a group of kids or adults ganged up on him he would have defended himself, but I never seen a desire in him to hurt anyone.

I miss u Zeus.

Goddamn ex has em....

A dog that can cause so much damage should be in the hands of a professional only. You have a lot of knuckle-head owners who don't train/socialise their dogs property and it's always kids who pay the price. I wish these things were banned in NYC.
