Motorcycle Queen of Miami...

There's a movie here.

Bessie Stringfield (1911–February 1993), nicknamed "The Motorcycle Queen of Miami",[2] was the first African-American woman to ride across the United States solo, and during World War II she served as one of the few motorcycle despatch riders for the United States military.

Credited with breaking down barriers for both women and African-American motorcyclists,[3] Stringfield was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame.[4] the award bestowed by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) for "Superior Achievement by a Female Motorcyclist" is named in her honor.

Empress

Someone should make a movie about her. It could be a great story and a great role for a black actress. I bet she encountered some very interesting people along her travels.

During that time in history. She's been to all the lower 48 on her bike. She was a force most definitely.

this is so cool.

i'm from the northwest. my father owned a harley davidson back in the day. he and my uncle used to go to coeur d alane, idaho to compete in the motorcycle events.

my uncle could write his name "cliff" on the dirt tracks.

i've was around harleys most of my childhood, as my father owned a motorcycle repair shop.

i'd like to learn more about "Bessie Springfield." she was a true pioneer and iconic figure of her time.

here's an addtion to this "great" and interesting thread

Bessie Stringfield was 19 years old when she decided to strike out on a cross country adventure on the motorcycle her adoptive mother bought her. She was the first woman to tour the lower 48 states and the first African American woman inducted into the American Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame.
