Britney Spears: 'I don't use computers'

Britney Spears: 'I don't use computers'
Britney Spears barely uses her computer because modern technology just isn't her "thing".
Although many people are addicted to their smartphones and cannot live without email, the 34-year-old pop star wants little to do with machines.
"Honestly, I still don't use my computer," she tells V magazine, noting her sons Sean, 10, and Jayden, nine, are more adept with technology than she is. "My kids use the computer more than I do! I understand that a lot of people are into it, and I have days where I write and stuff, but it's really not for me. It's not my thing."
There is nothing wrong with that, and I am not surprised!
There are a lot of the tail-end of Gen X or Old Millenials that were not raised on computers.
I am Britney's age, and the only reason I use computers is because: - in the eighties my father was an early adopter, - my parents were professionals with home computers early, - my school was leading in technology.
I also was not busy with talent shows and filming commercials in elementary school, or acting on Mickey Mouse Club in middle school, or recording my professional debut album in high school.
I WISH I COULD FIND THE VIDEO OF A TRIBE CALLED QUEST'S Q-TIP explaining why he does not understand this era of showing everything we do online. That was one of the reasons his next album was titled "The Last Zulu". He feels like he does not fit in with the current generation. AND Q-TIP STUDIED COMPUTER SCIENCES IN HIGH SCHOOL (late eighties)! |

Great for her, and i understand where she is coming from, i don't like much neither smartphones not social sites. I use my computer for work, information, forum, watching porn and other kind of videos. |

LOL, I ain't mad at Brit. I am so sick of people with their faces in a phone to the exclusion of all else that I could scream.
My family knows that it's me or the damn phone unless there is something urgent going on.
You are supposed to control technology, not the other way around.

For the time being at least, I've NEVER owned a smartphone or tablet. When it comes to phones, I'm old-fashioned as in I only need a mobile phone to make phone calls! If my friends or co-workers want to talk to me via phone, they dialed my phone number and we can talk with our voices or they can leave a message on my voicemail. But I do NOT do text messaging at all. Excuse me, but it's bad enough I have to type when sending an e-mail or an instant message on my desktop or laptop. I'm not doing any of those same things on a mobile phone. Damn that! Texting is for kids, in my opinion.
I've currently age 41 and definiely a Generation Xer. Desktop computers have been a part of my professional and personal life since the days of the Radio Shack Tandy Computers [which I don't miss at all] and the IBM PCs with DOS. I've also been through the years of Microsoft Windows 95, 98, Me [which was THE worst OS ever before Vista came along!] & XP Home Edition. Although I've never owned an Apple Computer [yet?!?], I gain some knowledge of using them due to using them on community college campuses.
Quite honest, the internet is actually THE real reason why and how I manage to remain a computer user this long! Had the internet [AKA the World Wide Web, the information highway] availability didn't spread across the USA back in 1994-99, especially when I had a Web TV console, I most likely would not have a desktop or laptop computer in my life right now, apart from my day job of course.
Remember, I knew what life was like before 1994. So if there were come a day when all of the current computer technology were to shutdown and no longer existed until further notice, I could definitely adjust because I remember life before 1994 when there were no internet, no social media, and computers in the households were not mandatory. But I can not say the same thing about the Millenials. I fear that most of them would have a nervous breakdown.

I wonder how Q-Tip really feel about people using computers to make music? That's a thread in itself, but still.

I said "well I guess I won't be talking to yo azz then".

Apart from YouTube, I wouldn't use anything else from Google.

She sounds to me like a lot of older Millennials and Gen X'ers who probably use computers but only sparingly and don't revolve their entire life on technology. I've used computers since my days in college in the late 1980's and have owned a personal computer since 1999. I also owned a tablet since 2011, which was the fire sale HP Touchpad that failed spectacularly in sales, and I have owned a smartphone since 2013. However, I only use my smartphone to call and text friends and family and to check weather conditions. I also use my tablet in place of firing up my PC to check email and visit a few websites like the Org and political blogs, but for the most part limit it to just that.
I spend almost my entire workday on a computer, so there are many days were I just feel ike unplugging and leaving the tech stuff alone. You couldn't get me to Instagram people, let alone use Snapchat or Tinder. Heck, I don't even have a Facebook account. I did sign up for Twitter in 2007, so I guess that technically makes me an early adopter, but I think I've sent out a total of 25 tweets since then.
I sort of understand why younger Millennials may be so technically inclined, but they also spend too much time in public staring at their smartphones, sometimes while walking through a parking lot or trying to cross a busy street.

It's hard not to think of her as out of touch when female singers twice her age use them. |

I really don't think Ms. Spears is an exception...
For all the folks who are teched up to their ass and beyond...
There's a significant part of the population for which computers are on the peripheral. People do work at jobs, have skills, and yes socialize without using a computer.
To each his or hers own...
