TWD creator Robert Kirkman and the show's executive producer Scott M Gimple spoke about this rather unusual way of ending the season, citing their love for cliffhangers as one of the main reasons behind this move.

"As a fan, I love cliffhangers," Kirkman said on the Talking Dead (via E! Online). "I love that tension. If you read the comic books, pretty much every issue ends with a cliffhanger. I think that's a lot of fun."

Gimple and Kirkman also explained how this cliffhanger will play a major role in the season 7 storyline. "The cliffhanger isn't the story," Kirkman said, explaining that this whole episode was designed to set up "how confident Rick was going into this."

"This episode is about the loss of that confidence. It's about tearing Rick Grimes down, and that's the conclusion of this episode. The story of who died, of what comes next, of who Negan killed, that's really the story of season seven."

Gimple also promised that The Walking Dead season 7 will make it up to the fans for the season 6 finale. "We have to do an episode that justifies it to you," Gimple said of season 7. "We have to do something so great and so intense that you're like, OK, all right, fair play, and that's the challenge that we have. We're going to do it, we're going to deliver you something fantastic. We want you to be one of those people in that lineup. We want you to feel that suspense, that terror, and that pain, and we're going to deliver you a story next season that justifies it."

A disgruntled “The Walking Dead” viewer is demanding that AMC reveal which character was killed in the zombie drama’s controversial season six finale on Sunday.

“I would like AMC to show us who Negan killed in the Season 6 finale of The Walking Dead,” writes the Change.org petition creator Mason Cade Packer from Wellington, New Zealand.

“We want this either in an interim episode that borders Season 6 and 7, or a short R-Rated webisode that shows us the death in all it's [sic] bloody glory,” he continues. “Either of these are fine as long as it's released before May 30th.”

The petition has already collection 1,745 signatures and counting toward its goal of 2,500 since it was posted two days ago.

Many fans are furious that the hit cable series wrapped a season full of fake-outs - including a month-long period where the fate of beloved character Glenn (Steven Yeun) was left up in the air - with a huge cliffhanger in the much-hyped season finale.

.

The show brought to life one of the graphic novels’ most infamous scenes - where barbed-wire-bat wielding villain Negan (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan) bashes Glenn to death.

But instead of killing Glenn, the episode switched the camera angle to a first-person point-of-view so that the audience couldn’t tell which character met a grisly end.

The producers defended their decision to keep fans guessing for another six months.

Maybe. I can't think of any scene he's been in that would require a "dummy" for him. But then as I'm thinking, he's seated not kneeling. Bendable, perhaps?

A petition???????? Are these the same people that open up their Christmas presents early? Man the times in which we live in. This generation wants everything in a instant. Shit if we had to wait to see who shot JR then you cry babies can wait 6 six months to see who Negan killed.

NOT that i look forwrd to losing Aaron. he adds a lot to the group. it'll be sad no matter who is chosen to go under the bat....

That could be a set up of some kind. He could get it later on but he's not the one for right now.


The problem with it being Aaron from what I understand is whoever gets lucilled marks a change in the cohesion of the group members, somebody leaves the group. Aaron's too minor and has no true attachements in the group. But then we do have Carol making a exit so she might be the one who changes the group dynamic, leaving no need for it to be somebody major. It's hard to say. Personally, I'm really attached to Glenn so I'm hoping they change the storyline, so if it's gotta be somebody...there's only 3 that won't be that upsetting for me. Yes, I'll be sad, but not drastically so. But yet again those 3 are too minor to be that big of an impact and they keep saying there's going to be a big impact. Back at square one, every time.

So I couldn't even begin to bet.
