I'll go on the record in say that film was/is one of most awesomely bad films ever! Apart from the orgy sex scenes, the only thing "entertaining" about Caligula was the fact that the actors & actressess were so damn serious with their obvious campy roles.

I saw that film when i was 14, my sister's friend put it in my home and there were my mother and sister; i don' know what the hell was he thinkin; it was their first date. I love the film; those orgies and oral sex scenes are great.

Saw it a long time ago on cable one night. "Caligula" caused a big ruckus and controversy when it was released in the theaters..Many theaters refused to show it and it was banned in some areas. Bob Guccione also wanted the sex scenes to be real but I think he was talked out of that idea. P's live 91 performance of "Gett Off" on the MTV Awards show reminded me (a bit) of that film.

Take out the sex and the nudity there really isn't a movie about anything, about 2 paragraphs worth of history from a Wikipedia page if they had wikipedia back then, dude was caesar for a short time, got assasinated because he was dumb and wasn't handling business, the end. I don't get the big whoop factor from seasoned grown folks about the sex, sex is the whole point of the internet, you've seen that same stuff a hundred or thousands of time. It's not like it was when we were kids and only got to see porn through those squiggly lines on late night cable tv. A movie like that was a big deal back in those days.
