.

The always-dashing Idris Elba took home two early SAG Awards Saturday for his turns in Netflix’s “Beasts of No Nation” and the BBC crime drama “Luther.”

.

“We made a film about real people and real lives, you know, and to be awarded for it is very special, because a lot of people were damaged through that,” Elba said during his acceptance speech for best supporting actor in “Beasts,” a harrowing flick about child soldiers in an African civil war.

.

“So thank you for giving this film some light.”

.

He thanked creator Cary Fukunaga and pretended to forget Netflix head honcho Ted Sarandos’ name, calling him “Ted something.”

.

Later, Elba won his second award — this time for outstanding performance in a TV movie or miniseries in “the little train that was ‘Luther.’”

.

“I really don’t know what to say,” he said, opting this time to thank his “beautiful children.”

Elba stars as Detective Chief Inspector John Luther in "Luther."

.

Elba made a third trip up to the stage to present a clip from “Beasts” alongside his young co-star, Abraham Atta — and seemed to wink at the ongoing #OscarsSoWhite controversy.

.

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to diverse TV,” he joked.]

.

The British actor is also up for an ensemble cast award along with his "Beasts" co-stars.

I have not seen Bests of No Nation but they said he gave a "chilling performance"...A couple of scences were RISKY for any Male actor to do...Idris got a Golden Globe nomination for supporting actor, SAG supporting actor Nod & a BAFTA supporting actor Nod...He got all the major Nods except the Oscar Nod...Critics were surprised but the Academy is not gonna let 69yr old Sly Stone miss out on winning would could be his final Career Oscar....

It will definitely be his final career Oscar.
Idris Elba was great in Beasts... I would say he probably deserved an Oscar nom in place of Eddie Redmayne.

People say if he won the Oscar it would only be some kind of lifetime achievement Oscar, not really for his acting skills but I really liked his acting in Creed and think he honestly deserves that Oscar.

Still a Mystery why SAG snubbed Sly when the Movie critics were talking about a possible Oscar Nod before the Nominations came out..One critic said Sly is GLAD Idris won cuz the other Guys in the SAG-supporting category are nominated for Oscars..LOL...

man, just finished watching Beasts of No Nation. SIGH, such a hard film to finish. I enjoy Idris as an actor and his performance was stellar, but I don't think I'd ever recommend this film UNLESS I was watching it with a select group of people who were prepared to discuss it after. There is no way to sugar coat or glamorize the brutyality of civil war and the life of a child soldier but since you can't UNSEE certain things or recoup two hours gone by, the PURPOSE of a film like this needs to be clearer IMO. Maybe that WAS the point but MAN...w/o an outlet with PEOPLE to process this with, I feel JUST....defiled in a way

I feel the same way about "There Will Be Blood" for different reasons.

Defiled.

The question I ask of people who would want to see it is why subject yourself to it?

Thanks for the heads up.

Elba was born in Newham, London. His father, Winston, was a Sierra Leonean who worked in a Dagenham Ford motor factory, and his mother, Eve, was aGhanaian who had a clerical job.[

"There will be Blood" is a Masterpiece...Very deep, and Masterfully written, Directed & Acted...Daniel Day-Lewis DESERVED his 2nd Best Actor Oscar for that Brilliant performance...Daniel is an actor for the Ages, he uses the Gift God gave him and you see it everytime he Graces a Film...He's the ONLY male Actor to have won 3 Best Actor Oscars...He's Bad...
